Stayed here back in Dec on my first trip to Mexico. Originally was placed in a main floor room but relocated up to the 2nd flood upon request. All the rooms have sliding glass doors to get a nice breeze right off the water. Our room faced the pool which was surprisingly quiet at night. The hotel itself is at the far end of the strip but is only a few moments drive to what seems to be the heart of La Paz. It was a nice place to stay for the evening before going to swim with the Whale Sharks with a local company (A must if you are in town for sure!). Marisol is a lovely and dedicated manager and with the upgrades the hotel is receiving now it is sure to only improve.

Room tip: The rooms at the end overlook the Marina and have the best view

The room seemed a bit dated and run down. the utility closet door never stayed closed. A few water issues mid-shower, but I think they actually have fresh water delivered by truck. The pool was nice and filled with families and kids. Restaurant inside, or you can eat/drink around the pool. Location is off the main strip, but nice on it's own. Right on a marina, making for a nice walk checking out the boats. Security outside to keep vehicles safe. Air conditioning was good and strong. Good working WiFi in the pool area except in my room area.

While at the Hotel Marina i was looking for a manicure/pedicure. I called in advance and spoke to the attendant that answered and asked if they did mani'/pedi's. She spoke to me in Spanish - all the while i tried to speak in Spanish - but they did not speak in English and therefore thought they could not. The woman said 425 pesos for a SHELLAC pedicure. When i went in i was escorted by a woman to a corner that had no professional pedicure station but a small round low basin bucket (you wash clothes in). Now i don't mind simple...... but when you get simple you should pay for simple. Then i was told that they would do a gel polish not shellac (I like shellac because it lasts longer). They insisted. I acquiesced. The pedicure was not very well done, and i'm sure will only last a few days to a week before there are chips. However when i went to pay i was told the pedicure was 650 pesos! I was shocked and said - "that's almost $44 CDN! - you quoted 425 when i called" - she said i had to pay extra to get the shellac nail polish off. Now i specifically requested shellac on the phone and not at any time was there any mention of 'extra charges for the removal of said polish'. But to add insult to injury - when i paid, she started to speak in English. So not only was i taken for a fool - but also made to feel like one. No courtesy or consideration. DO NOT GO HERE. I now have an infection on my right index toe as the woman cut the skin and painted over it. There are many good places to get nails done. This is NOT one of them. Also - they have a similar name to a spa in another hotel. Choose carefully and do not go to this one.

Room tip: Go to another hotel.

Marina hotel is most probably the best choice of the hotel in La Paz. Hotel has real Mexican spirit, spacious rooms, beautiful view on the marina through the big balcony doors, it’s very clean and quiet. The only negative aspect that we could see was the lack of a night lamps, coffee maker (or at least hot water kettle) and small refrigerator. The hotel restaurant is very nice and cozy with a view of the marina and Sea of Cortez. Buffet breakfast contains traditional Mexican food but you can also get full continental breakfast, fruits, yogurts, pancakes, fresh juices, really good coffee etc...
If you go for a fishing trip with Baja Pirates (who works with the Marina Hotel and has their office located on the hotel premise) the fish that you catch can be prepared for you at this restaurant.
Even though most of the staff do not speak English they are very friendly. Massive thank you to Marisol, great manager of the hotel restaurant and to Sergio, the best waiter I’ve ever had! They go beyond what is necessary to make your experience unforgettable.

I truly recommend this place and I’m definitely coming back there next year :)
