An honest price to cross the Sea of Cortez although it's a long voyage. Several of the lounges have seats that recline and you can catch a decent nap in (even at 6'4).

Drove down Baja from San Diego and crossed over on the ferry with a van. Loading was easy and we felt our car was safe. We got a cabin to sleep in and it was clean and comfortable. The ferry is like a small cruise ship, basic, not luxurious. Our room had a shower with lots of hot water. Unlike some other peoples reviews we found a sit down restaurant that served decent food at very reasonable prices with waiters.
We did not use the seating that is available if you don't have a room, but it was certainly decent looking. All in all we are glad we took it and got more than we expected, after all it is just a ferry.

We wanted to give Baja Ferries a try as everyone asks us what it's like - now we know.

Our experience was a mixed bag. We took the Mazatlan to La Paz sailing, got a cabin, and enjoyed the trip. It is not a cruise ship - the restaurant choices are either a cafeteria (it was ok, but not thrilling) and a very overpriced sit down restaurant. The bar area was creepy. Lots of truck drivers on our boat drinking a whole lot.

Our cabin had seen better days. It was clean and we got to sleep. For that I was thankful as the boat gets in very early am.

No breakfast was served on board. We had someone picking us up, but there were lots of Taxis. La Paz is about 15 minutes away.

Somehow we had to go through customs/immegration when we got off the boat. Not sure why as all travel was within Mexico.

All in all, it's not a bad way to go if you need to cross the Sea of Cortez with a car. I would probably fly next time, all things being equal.

We travelled earlier this year from Topolobampo to La Paz by Baja Ferries with our vehicle and dog.Their Website stated that the dog would remain in the vehicle on this ship "California Star", and not in the Cargo area. It is a 6 hour nightly ferry leaving at 11.00pm.
Our dog was placed in a cage on the Cargo deck, exposed to the elements(cold night air) on the same deck as all the refridgerated trucks, which were kept running all night.(exhaust fumes)- and she had no water available to her. We complained several times-to no avail, needless to say we were too upset to eat or drink ourselves and went to lay on the beds in our private cabin. We did not sleep and the 2 blankets that were supplied were not enough to keep us warm-so imagine our dog on the outer deck! We were not allowed to go to our vehicle or visit the dog. It was a nightmare of a journey and we were all traumatised at the end of it. There is a lot more I could say, this is just the incident concerning the treatment and abuse of our dog.
Baja Ferries - shame on you. Will never travel with them again.

Hard to find out exact information if your Spanish is limited. Best to check about ferry system at an OXXO
