This is a fabulous find for Local Mexican cuisine. Delightful and affordable. Three of us had dinner for 370 pesos. The menu is not extensive and they were out of chicken and shrimp when we were there. But we all had fresh fish and it was fantastic. I recommend the pescado Veracruz which is fish with tomatoes, onions and peppers. No English spoken but it's no problem. You can't be afraid of cats because they roam the open restaurant.

I believe it is spelled "La Fonda"? Great place, casual and probably the best bargain for good local food in town! Highly recommended by locals and Gringos alike!

La Fonda, yes spelled FONDA not FANDA, is one of the gems of local La Paz cuisine. Located at the corner of Nicolas Bravo & Revolucion downtown, this large place has both indoor & outside patio seating. When we ordered our lunch, we had no idea of the portions, which were huge. The Combination plate (plato mixto) included a tostada, quesadilla, chile relleno, & chicken mole. We had trouble finishing as it is also served with refried beans. The Burrito plate- 3 fresh tortillas filled with a mixture of pork, onion,& chiles is mild and savory. Service was excellent the 1st time and less than that upon re-visit, but that did not diminsh our recommendation. This is a local favorite as evidenced by the table for 20 that was just leaving when we entered. A must for an authentic experience in La Paz.
