We stayed at Hacienda Paraiso for three days in Nov 2010. My wife and I had spent time exploring Baja California with the intent of resting in La Paz before our return trip north. What a joy it was to find our way to the Hacienda. Our host Richard guided us in by cell phone. The first surprise was the huge garage that housed our rental car. To give an idea of its size, Richard said that they had hosted six Baja 1000 race teams the prior weekend and the six teams were all able to park their transporters and race vehicles in the garage. The grounds of the Hacienda are just gorgeous. Palm trees shade the walkways and local plants flourish in between. The centerpiece is a beautiful ceramic tile infinity pool. My wife and I were in La Paz to check out the city, look at real estate possibilities and enjoy a swim in the Sea of Cortez. Richard and Gloria were very helpful, directing us to the beaches [we tried Balandra and Tecolote]. They also recommended restaurants [Rancho Viejo - que bueno]. Gloria took my wife to visit a local doctor and farmacia due to a respiratory issue and they went also stopped by the local weaver, all within a few blocks of the Hacienda.

Our room at the Hacienda was well appointed, neat as a pin, nicely decorated with local furniture and had an uncommonly [for Mexico] comfortable bed. Breakfast was a good time to hear what the other guests enjoyed about the prior day and what was coming up. The food was tasty with fresh fruit, fresh juice, coffee and a Mexican breakfast of eggs, tortillas, etc.

The Hacienda was just what we needed to decompress after our drive down the Baja. There are only six rooms in this B&B, so it probably never gets too hectic. It was delightfully unhurried during our stay - a sanctuary. Richard and Gloria are very good at anticipating each guest's needs. We could have stayed much, much longer in such idyllic surroundings.

We were the first customers of Gloria and Richard and we are their first returning ones. It was as good as we remembered I think the food might of been even better. Ali was a good cook with a beautiful smile. As with any place that is good it was busier then the last time we were there so I recomend you book early.
Gloria was a great help with information and even drove around with us to look at houses. I would recomend this B&B to anyone.

As it turned yoy msde everything right for us. We will always know how much you both did in having us start out on a high note.

Ali makes an awesome mexican breakfast which if you ate it all would get you well beyond lunch. Each day we had something new and delicious always with fruit and sweet bread. La Paz was a very laid back town and was about a 12 minute stroll from the hacienda which my husband and I walked at night without any concerns for our safety. Highly recommend a car rental to get out to the beaches (easy 15 minute or so drive). This is a beautiful place for a great price! Richard and Gloria are both super knowledgable on anything from great restaurants to history and geology.

Richard and Gloria are the most gracious, delightful, acommodating hosts, who welcomed us warmly as we stumbled onto their bit of paradise after leaving a disappointing hotel. They served a fantastic Mexican breakfast each morning that we lingered over, schmoozing with them and their other guests. Their courtyard is an oasis, starring a magnificent swimming pool surrounded by palms and other tropical greenery. My wife and I sunbathed to the warbling of parakeets and watched as a flock of wild parrots flew overhead. I can't imagine a more satisfying B & B.
La Paz is a laid back, un touristy area where you can try out an assortment of beaches, visit local pottery makers and weavers, and hire a boat to snorkel among a colony of sea lions. Our vacation was memorable thanks to Richard and Gloria and Hacienda Paraiso.
