gift shop kept very irregular hours- it was hard to purchase an item we had liked and should have bought at the time. When we went back to buy it the shop was always closed.

Really takes you back to beginning of Mexico, esp. Baja areas & what life was like, most interesting was the sealife that were & or are in the Bay of La Paz

If you don't have high expectations you will enjoy this small museum. It is actually very nice for what it is. There was an exhibit about pirates that was quite good. Since I find myself not remembering much else, I think it was not terribly informative, but it was a nice way to spend a little time during the heat of the day!

This is a great (if small) museum that covers the sweep of history from the geologic formation of the Baja peninsula to the prehistoric animals and people to the more recent days of Spanish exploration up to today.

We pent about two hours touring the museum. Because we don't read Spanish and the interpretive signs are all written in Spanish only, we missed out on some opportunities to learn more, but it was fun to try to translate what we could.

There is also a nice little gift shop with some tourist related things and a substantial selection of serious anthropology/archeology resources.
