“Beautiful beach, but be sure to walk around rock corner to see Balandra Rock”
Reviewed June 7, 2014

Balandra Beach is beautiful. There are actually two beaches, and the one with the famous "Balandra Rock" is around a rocky corner from where the parking lot is and not visible from the parking lot. (Head to the right as you face the water.) You can either wade in the shallow water or walk over a small group of rocks. The water is very shallow, as is stated here but there is something very unique and cool about walking halfway across the bay and the water still only being up to your thighs. If you go to the beach with the Balandra Rock, there is decent snorkeling over by the Rock. There are no umbrellas, palapas or anything on the actual Balandra Rock beach, but there are some at the beach with the parking lot.
Beautiful drive and scenery getting here as well.

“Pretty Beach”
Reviewed June 5, 2014

Lovely, peaceful beach. Not suitable for swimming because the water is so shallow in the large lagoon. And paddling has to done with the "stingray shuffle" to avoid being stung by the stingrays that recline in the sand. But worth the visit for such beautiful surroundings.

“Great beach to wade in the water or relax under an umbrella”
Reviewed June 5, 2014

The water is crystal clear and you can wade in knee deep water for half a mile. Because the water is so clear you can see little fishes swimming around your feet. This would be a great beach if you have young children because they could collect shells, make sand castles on shore or just sit in the calm cool water.

“Beautiful, but there are stingrays!”
Reviewed June 4, 2014

Balandra is a natural beach with really clear water. It is clean. The water is not deep and you can walk in the water. You can see all the beautiful fish while walking. But be careful- there are stingrays. When you step on them (they are reclined in the sand, really flat), they will sting (they are poisonous). There are no restrooms, no restaurants, only a man in a bus selling soft drinks and salty snacks. He rents kayaks, too.

“Natural, impressive, away from the crowd beautiful beach”
Reviewed May 29, 2014

Getting to playa Balandra from La Paz is fairly easy and quick. Situated north from La Paz, the drive there is pleasant and the landscape is gorgeous. The best part about it is that is a natural reservation and people are not allowed to build any bars or buildings of any sort, so the beach is actually "wild". The water is warm and clean and extremely calm, making it the ideal place for relaxing and forgetting about civilization for a while. EXTREMELY RECOMMENDED. Even if you are staying in Cabo San Lucas it is worth to make a day-trip.
