After taking a quick tour at the Santo Tomas winery downtown, we walked across the street to check out Hogaza, Hogaza (www.hogazahogaza.com). I'm so glad we did. It's a European-style bakery that makes over 30 premium gourmet kinds of bread. We tried their signature loaf – the Mediterranean Hogaza – a semi-sourdough bread made with natural yeast, local Baja olives and organically grown rosemary – oh my goodness - it was AMAZING. We also bought a loaf of the roasted fig and goat cheese bread, which was divine. They also serve beautiful pastries, cookies and other desserts.
