We went to Estero to get info, and stopped to visit an acquaintance. We decided to eat at the restaurant there. The service was great. They had my favorite beer. The food was good and we had a great view! It was a nice pleasant walk around the grounds. Very relaxing.

What I didn't like
- Ant in the room
- View from the room: if you don't have an ocean view room, expect to see a parking lot
- Wi-fi: didn't work in the room, had to go out in the garden
- Bathroom: old and full of ant
- Very old and expensive
- Not relaxing: only big families with children, the pool was dirty and full of foam
- Beach in front of the resort: small and ridiculous. It is the landing for jet-sky so expect oil in the water and smell in the air

What I liked most:
- Location: far from the noise and sadness of Ensenada (a terrible town)
- Ok, you're at seaside

Room Tip: Ocean view is a must

We stayed 2 nights at the Estero Beach Resort, a Thursday and a Friday, starting out in room 355, then switching to 354 on Friday. While it certainly wasn’t the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had, the negatives outweighed the positives (particularly on a weekend), and I would not likely stay there again.

Positives:
-- Nice location: the hotel is on the water in a small inlet. So, there are no big waves – it’s easy enough for a poor swimmer to safely go in the water.

-- Large enough grounds to walk around a bit

-- Rooms 354-357 seem to me to be the best bargain ($120 a night). They’re a block of 4 ground floor ocean front rooms, separated from the rest of the hotel. The rooms seem larger than the rooms in the main part of the hotel, and each has a nice, large, private patio (2 lounge chairs plus a table with umbrella that seats 4. Other ocean view rooms in the main part of the hotel only have a couple of Adirondack chairs and cost $150).

Negatives

-- Room seem expensive for what you get (though I didn’t check prices at any other hotels in the area).

-- Rooms feel a bit shabby/old. Furniture looks dated, bathroom tiles are chipped, shower doors in room 354 don’t close, TVs are old and (room 355) broken with bad reception. The mattress in room 355 was a bit soft, but 354 was nice and firm.

-- The pool isn’t particularly inviting – inside the pool are some large planters with palm trees, and there’s also a swim-up bar. This leaves relatively little room to actually swim or splash around.

-- The outdoor restaurant has live music on weekends, and at 9PM Friday they turned the volume WAY up and left it that way until the bar closed. Too loud to sleep, too loud to hear the TV, to loud to even carry on a conversation in our room. Room 354 is closest to the bar, however, I think this music would have been loud anywhere on the hotel property.

-- The hotel maintenance crew was a problem. Saturday morning at 7:15 AM we woke up to a maintenance man using a leaf blower to clean our patio. A short time later, another man came to sweep our patio while we were sitting there, and didn’t understand us when we asked him to leave.

-- Late at night on both nights we were there, people set off very loud firecrackers on the public beach adjoining the hotel – if this is a regular occurrence, it will interfere with your sleep.

-- If the hotel is hosting a weekend wedding, they will set up a tent and porta-potties on Friday in front of rooms 355-357. They didn’t bother telling us they were going to completely obstruct our ocean view, however, when we complained they switched us to a different room (354).

This was our first time at Estero Resort I was really surprised by this lil tucked away resort. It's charming yet it lacks in some areas modern. They have several buildings which I later found out are different style rooms. The one we stayed was Palenque which was a double queen over looking the pool & beach, this room was out dated, the decor, the TV, the beds were hard & no air conditioning just a couple of standing fans that barely worked lol @$150.00 a night, however the weather at night was about 60-70 degrees so we really didn't need AC. The rooms have balconies which is great to enjoy the beach view. We really didn't spend that much time in the room so we tried to over look that the room wasn't fabulous! We walked on the boardwalk, enjoyed the restaurant which has a nice bar & live music, the pool has a swim up bar & also a grill stand so if you get hungry you can order food, they also play music at the pool & they have activities for the beach as well. Now they do have more modernized rooms, we weren't aware before booking ours, which have Plasmas TV & AC & a few other amenities you just have to make sure to ask if that's what you prefer, otherwise enjoy!! Super good time we loved it!!

I understand that this is a perfect accommodation for families with children: secure and secluded location with a swimming pool where you can leave your children and forget about them for all day. And probably the rooms with pool or ocean view are good.
I stayed in a parking view room with a lot of ants in the bathroom and all around and a bathroom that could not be acceptable even for a low profile motel. And the WiFi didn't work in room, you have to go in the corridor.

Room Tip: Ask for ocean or pool view.

Have been going there for the last 12 years (but were too afraid to go the last 5-6 yrs because of the media stories around TJ etc.). We've stayed in both the hotel villas and the RV resort - this place is awesome. The grounds & location are beautiful & well-maintained. The restaurant is fabulous & all the staff were great especially Carlos who worked with the manager to get us a dedicated cab to take us to a few of the fabulous wineries (I'll write a separate review for Yellow Cab - our drive also Carlos - first class). At no time did we ever feel unsafe when we crossed the border. Will be going back soon.

Room Tip: Ocean front RV spots are fantastic altho' all are 30 amp but weather is so mild you don't ne...

It has been 1 year since I last stayed at Estero Beach Resort. There have been many upgrades to the common grounds and rooms. Staff is very friendly and fast. The resort is on the south end of Ensenada located on the beach. Since I was trailering two motorcycles I selected this hotel for its great security. I thought the $145 usd for a king bed room was high...since this is low season for the hotel. Everything was going well until the morning shower...no hot water. Let water run for 20 minutes and nada ( nothing ).
