Owner description: Roughly translated as "the snorter," this underwater cave regularly sucks in sea water and spits it out the cave's top drenching visitors to the site.

A natural marine blow hole that requires a one hour ride on bumpy dirt roads. The blow hole is minimal - told it blows up to 20 meters, not while I was there. The bus drops off visitors at the start of an outdoor market filled with aggressive vendors who want your money and your precious vacation time. There are a few places to eat. The taco stand at the entrance of the market is good, clean and friendly. Be prepared to pay to use the restrooms. 50 cents American per use of the facilities. There are some larger restaurants in the market area which will allow free use of restrooms if you are dining there. Be prepared - bring lots of small bills if you are planning on shopping and the aggressive guides at the blow hole who insist on a tip.

the Bufadora is a natural blow hole. It has a flea market type atmosphere with a lot of good food and shopping. A great experience. We go every year just for the almejas asadas (grilled clams in their shell).

Our 'tour' turned into a scene out of a Robert Rodriquez or Rob Zombie movie...I'll get to that,,,,,but...
First, the ride: You go thru areas where there are no roads, or the road is half there. Dusty, bumpy, and not scenic at all. Almost one of hour of nothing,,,no stops nothing.
Nothing to learn here, be on your way...

Once you get to the Blow Hole area, you have to run a gauntlet of rude, loud vendor Mexican men, yelling at you trying to get you to buy. In my case, since I am African-American, I got rude references such as, "I habe big size for black ladies", or, "sistah! sistah!" and "my queen".
No thanks.
Then, the nightmare: as the suns sets, shops close and every bus has left, we get on our bus and start to leave. The drivers finds out we have NO HEADLIGHTS. NONE. And we are in the middle of nowhere and have to go back down a mountain-side IN COMPLETE DARK.
Needless to say, it was a nerve wrecking experience.
About halfway back, we had a another bus meet us and got a ride with that bus back to the ship.
This company & excursion was thru Carnival cruises, and was totally irresponsible for our safety in not checking the bus to make sure everything was in complete working order......save your money on a 15 minute experience, (or in our case, and hour and a half nightmare!).

The blow hole is pretty awesome! It can catch you off guard if you're not careful. There are lots of vendors and shops around if you are interested in shopping or eating as well!
