On a recent vacation to Mayrhofen, Austria, to attend the Almabtrieb event, my husband, adult son and I spent our first four nights in Radfeld at the Hotel Sonnhof.
From my very first e-mail correspondence with Andreas (the hotel owner) in March 2012 until our departure from the hotel on October 3, everything was great. We could not have been more warmly received and treated like royalty. I had reserved two rooms for us. My husband and I were assigned room # 301 and our son had room # 304. Room # 301 was a large double room with the ensuite having a bathtub and an over head shower. Room # 304 was a medium sized room with an ensuite shower. Both rooms had lovely views over the village of Radfeld with the mountains in the back ground and both rooms had balconies.
Andreas could not have been more helpful with answering my many questions prior to our arrival and during our stay. The rooms were kept imaculately clean as were the public areas of the hotel. The wait staff all did their jobs very well, thank you for your extra kindness, Lenny and Dirk. We had breakfast at the hotel for our four mornings and it was all delicious and very well presented. We also ate in the restaurant for two of our evening meals and both Lenny and Dirk helped us with our translations. On one evening I had Graukas suppe (a local gray cheese) and it was the best soup I have ever had. I ended up ordering it at various restaurants a total of four times during our 10 day holiday in Austria. So thank you Dirk for encouraging me to try it for the first time.
The pricing for our accomodations and the meals was very reasonable. The hotel had many services available including a lift, bowling alley, sauna, swimming pool and its own pub. As well as a wonderful indoor play area for children and a huge outdoor play area. The village of Radfeld was great for walking around and enjoying the beautiful houses with all the lovely flower boxes. Also, just a 10 minute walk from Radfeld is the very historic town of Rattenberg, known for its crystal shops, Rattenberg Castle, the Nailsmith's Houses and the Augustiner Museum.
Yes, everything was perfect and we hope to return someday.
