We stayed 9th June for one night on our way back from Chester to break our journey home to HULL Guy greeted us and made us feel welcome. Stayed in room 7 above the bar not in one of the courtyard rooms. The room was basic but adequate after having to pull out bed to plug in bedside lights. After visiting Pickering where there was a Sixties gala with lots of people making the effort to dress in Sixties clothes and was good fun, we returned for our evening meal. The meal was excellent with a varied interesting menu and well above "pub grub" standard , very reasonable in price considering the quality. A selection of good well kept beers was also available. The staff were attentive without being intrusive and nothing was too much trouble The place is very popular and seemed to have regular diners which is always a good sign.We would definitley stay there again....
