Krabi Thai Village Resort

Stayed here 4 nights. Hotel is well located with only a 10 min walk from main road/beach. The resort is clearly old but well maintained and our room was fine although I didn't like the fact the bathroom sink is part of the main bedroom area and so directly in the room entrance and not behind a separate door. The wooden floor in the room needed to be re-varnished or thoroughly cleaned as there are too many marks. Free wifi in hotel bar but should really be included in all rooms. Breakfast was a good typical buffet service.

Pool area is nice and I agree the bar staff need to improve their service, probably not happy with their wages compared to drink prices which are very high! We stayed in Ao Nang during the Songkaran New Year festivities and on New Year's Day the hotel held a special outdoor dinner event. The buffet choices were good but the food was not hot and we were given a table at the side even though some of the 'reserved' tables remained empty all night. The entertainment was poor and at THB 1000 per person the tickets were over priced.

Overall this hotel represents good value and if you are coming to Ao Nang then I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: This is a Resort hotel so rooms located in separate buildings from main reception. High floor overlo...

Staff at desk were great. Staff at bar and pool bar were horrible. Bad mannered. No free wifi in room which now a days is crazy. Pool was highlight of hotel. My wife sent me to kitchen to microwave some baby food and the kitchen was shockingly dirty. I'm talking about in the corners under Neath fixed equipment. Put me right of the hotel. Wouldn't stop there again. Thailand is dirty as in no bins rubbish everywhere. Drinks expensive.

The first time I have ever had complimentary Crocs and slippers (fabulous). The rooms were very spacious and clean. Plenty of storage and shampoo. Large shower and huge bed. Wonderful view from the balcony. The resort is small but beautiful. The cleaner was supposed to leave tea and coffee every day but I had to ring down for it so that she could bring it up and expect a tip each time!! The pools were lovely but seemed a little murky at times. There were two resident monitor lizards which were great to watch and the loudest frog I have ever heard. We had the greatest time all in all.

From the moment you walk in to the grand lobby of this hotel you are left breath taken. We arrived around 11am and they very kindly found us a lovely room on a high floor as we requested despite us having a lot of trouble contacting the hotel via phone, email or their website to book in advance.

Tuk Tuk from the ferry terminal to the hotel about a five minute journey was 150THB for two people but the hotel for some reason quoted 600THB for a private car. The bell hops are lovely, all smiling and cheerful and eager to please. Definitely worthwhile tipping. The check-in stagg mainly female border on indifferent and are curt to say the least before check-in and after check-out. While you are paying for a room though they are curt and when you've checked out or are checking in they are indifferent.

The furnishings of the lobby, cleanliness of the grounds, selection of four swimming pools + pool bar. Excellent room service, on grounds spa more than make up for the attitude of the ladies on the front desk. The tour guide / booking counter staff are very friendly, patient and helpful.

Pros:

1. Room is spacious, clean, tidy and has both shower and bath
2. Lovely view of the grounds and pool facilities tom the excellent balcony
3. Great selection of breakfast, five or six different types of fruit. five or six types of cereal, five or six types of meats, four or five asian dishes, omelettes made to order, scrambled, fried eggs, waffles, french toast. The complimentary breakfast made sure you'd last till tea time with a long days touring in between.
4. Complementary rubber + cloth slippers provided in the room along with umbrella were a nice touch. Especially when it rained
5. Complementary wifi in the hotel bar with no obligation to actually buy a drink was a nice touch and a good way to meet fellow travellers in the evening as they'd be checking their messages after a day's touring
6. Scooter rental for 250 THB for each 24 hr period was a nice touch. The THB 150 they charged to repair a totally unintentional puncture was not.
7. ATM cash withdrawal machine outside the hotel was good
8. Make sure you visit the Nichakarn Massage place on Aonang Soi 8 which was a five minute walk away.
9. Coffee in the hotel was pretty good
10. Star Sports in the room was a nice touch to keep track of the F1 in the evenings
11. Balcony was lovely to enjoy a quiet evening drink, not too private, not too public.
12. Send a postcard anywhere in the world for 40THB was a nice surprise

Cons

1. AIr conditioning is too loud, the central console remote only works as required 10% of the time, else turns random lights on/off even when on the air conditioner settings
2. If the A/C gets too loud then turn it off, but then the fridge is frustratingly sleep deprivingly loud so it's a competition to see which of the two drones are least sleep depriving.
3. Having staff call up randomly at 2am asking if the A/C was working was unwelcome.
4. Balcony doors do not lock properly though we were on the second floor

Room Tip: complain if the A/C or fridge are too loud as it could disturb your sleep

we had a great stay at this hotel. Changed room after first night because of "damp smell". This was done with no problem at all. Rooms are big and comfortable and cleaned well every day. Only bad thing to say is that the no.4 bed in the room was not really a bed for a 10 year old. Compared to the other beds it was tiny. Because of this one of our daughters slept with my sister who had a doubleroom to herself. So think about this if you travel with older children.
Breakfast was good. Had everything you need for brunch, eggs cooked to order and also rice and meatdishes.
Had the Thaibuffet first evening. Okay but not fantastic. There are lots of good restaurants in the area. Streetkitchens down the road were fab... you will eat a great lunch there for 2 dollars. Also the massage down the end of the road was great, we paid 6 dollars for an hour of oil-massage. Wonderfull!!
Hotel is only a ten minute walk away from mainstreet. Great shopping.
Loved that the hotel had pooltowels and even towels you could take to the Beach. We did not stay on the Beach in krabi but rented longtailboats for daytrips to the beautiful islands in the area.
All in all the perfect spot for a good thailand-experience.

Room Tip: rooms on upper floors were great. Lower rooms had a damp smell.

Not on beach. You have to pay for wifi in bedrooms, it's only free in small section near lobby. staff barely speak English & our friends had no hot water in their room. Not good for kids, no lifts and kids pool is like a jail - weird. Gym only open from 8am and no treadmill. Won't go back when there are plenty of nicer places right next to the beach.
