It is quite nice place. Though if your ability to move is limited you should be aware of the fact that some rooms may be high on hillside. Climbing to there could be challenging even to fit persons. The fitness centre is about 10 sqm so do not expect much there.

Great hotel, lovely staff as you would imagine Thai people are so welcoming. The room was great we had a deluxe suite with fab views very high up so high even the boys delivering our room service were out of breath ha ha.
The breakfast selection was fab and we even ate at the hotel a couple of times ( after tiring days at the beach)
Happy hour at the pool 3-4pm is a bonus.
Not so sure about the resort of Ao Nang too busy and commercialised for me BUT the beaches close by and the trips on long tail boats are great! and inexpensive!!

Although the staff were lovely - the photography on the pakasai website is incredibly deceiving. Ao Nang is a large town so if you think you are heading for a hillside retreat - think again. The hotel is situated smack bang next door to a grotty run down hotel with peeling paint work which towers over the pakasai. It's a really grim view and right next to the pool area. We couldn't see the sea from the pool area either. We were in an andora suite, the room itself is fine but it's in a block with no natural light and no balcony - straight outside the room in a fence. Not very ambient. The hotel is built into a hill, there are only a handful of rooms with a view of the sea, most others face inwards with a view of the mangrove. I felt quite claustrophobic. When we arrived the mosquitoes were rife. Upon arrival We counted about 20 in our room alone, we had to vacate the room for them to fumigate it. We told them we weren't happy with the room and they kindly showed us alternative rooms but sadly we felt so deceived by the whole appearance of the hotel and the clever website photography that even the best room in the hotel couldn't win us over. We were supposed to stay 10 nights but we moved after just 1 night. The staff were very gracious with our move and seemed genuinely disappointed about our dissatisfaction. The breakfast was nice and so were the staff but in reality it isn't a bit like the impression you get from the website.

(context for my remarks: we are a retired Canadian couple; traveled extensively for 20+ years in 3,4,5 star resorts/hotels; have spent 20 months since 2008 in Asia/Pacific with Singapore as home base with family who live there; we have had 12 separate trips to 8 different countries in Asia/Pacific region, so are now familiar with hotel standards and offerings of 4/5 stars)
Pakasai Resort is at best a 3 star offering, and the 4 or 4 1/2 star rating by TA reviewers was a complete letdown. We stayed there for 5 days in mid-March, 2013.
PROS: convenient location to beaches, shops, restaurants; very quiet, tranquil as it is built into a hillside with 4 acres of park-like setting with lots of trees, flowers, walkways; chalet buildings are nice and have very nice shaded large balconies
(following major and minor cons are indicative that this is NO 4 star; the minor cons are 'correctable' if management really cared; the major cons are 'structural')
MINOR CONS; 1. Poor front-end service (forgot our pre-arranged airport pickup (no apology; no taxi refund); slow 40 minute check-in although only 1 couple ahead of us; another 45 minute wait for our room (well past the 2pm check-in time);2. Sub-standard equipment (room safe failed to open 3X, another lady had same problem); bathroom scale did not work; a few pool towels had holes in them; several wood stairs leading to our chalet were rotten/unsafe; advertised mountain bikes were old 5-speeds and mine had an broken seat so we gave up; website said chalets had wooden floors with rich Thai fabric (both untrue). 3. Sub-standard housekeeping (less than 10 minutes for maid to clean and make up our room; floors not really swept very well; my wife misplaced her ring and looked under the bed to find a lot of dirt and dust; signs of dirt/mould in tile grout in shower, a sure sign they don't really clean it well)
MAJOR CONS;1. Very disappointing pool. Although clean, quiet it is NOT a swimming pool. It is only 1.2 m. deep at deep end and averages < 1m. deep. Because it is so shallow and has so little volume of water, it gets hot, not warm. You cannot even 'tread water', as your knees touch the bottom when your body goes vertical. We described it as a oversized 'hot tub', and an 'adult wading pool'. Extremely unwelcoming after a long hot day in the sun!. 2. The deluxe chalet room is standard 3 star only. very old furniture and older CRT TV (not flat screen). Bathroom has sliding doors and it is a decent size but only because that is where the closet, 3 small drawers, safe and luggage storage is. Air-con works but as others have noted is very loud. The bed is a disaster. 2 thin, very hard single mattresses pushed together for your 'queen' sits on a board that extends 12-18" beyond the mattress (like a sitting bench) that makes getting into bed difficult. My wife slept on the day bed the 2nd night! Worst sleep experience ever!
Summary; i took the time to write this because I value this TA website and use it a lot. This is an honest experience from an honest experienced traveler. If reader input rates this as #13 best hotel in Krabi, it does not say much for the quality of offerings there. Don't pay 4 star pricing for a 3 star experience...

Room Tip: choose something superior to the 'deluxe chalet'. it is anything but deluxe.

My wife and I traveled Thailand for over a month and Ao Nang was our favorite area in the south, for us, much better than Phuket. Our philosophy for judging; Great management creates the best experience. Incredible service and clean coupled with a great location, beautiful architecture and layout creates a great resort.

We felt extremely lucky we found this resort. The location is absolutely perfect; sitting only one block off of the main street, keeping it quit. It is close to restaurants, street food, shops and massage while maintaining a quite setting off of the main street. (Our favorite massage was the Orn, ask for Tuk.) The resort is in a beautiful garden setting with a large luxurious pool with some of the best poolside food we have ever found. The resort exceeded our expectations but the management and staff topped it off. The manager, Jitra, was one of the most sincere and caring persons we met on our trip. Her desire to make sure we had the best service possible was everywhere, from the security out front to the waiters and housekeepers, we were treated like royalty. We also need to mention Hathaithip, a concierge who also welcomed us with a beautiful smile and warm welcome every time we came through. The rooms are spotless and have comfortable beds. The bathrooms are spacious and also very clean. The breakfast buffet was perfect with incredible service and in a beautiful setting. My wife and I have traveled extensively and stayed in every category of hotel and resort, good and bad. We are looking forward to seeing Jitra and Hathaithip again and enjoying the Pakasai resort. Again, our philosophy for judging; Great management creates the best experience. Incredible service and clean coupled with a great location, beautiful architecture and layout create a great resort. The Pakasai encompassed all of the above and we are extremely greatful to Jitra and Hathaithip for giving us such a wonderful experience.

Room Tip: If you have trouble walking stairs, stay near the front of the resort.

We stayed at Pakasai during our 5d4n honeymoon last February. It was a great room for honeymoon! Our room completed with a nice honeymoon decoration plus a very nice bath tub. The concept was interesting where the huge bath tub was located on the balcony outside the room with a guaranteed privacy. The location of the hotel also superb where it just nearby Ao Nang beach. The people were quite nice and helpful. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend others to try this hotel!

Just returned from an amazing stay at the Pakasai. We stayed in building 10, rooms were spotless upon arrival, and were kept that way during our stay by the great housekeeping team.

The breakfast was excellent, with great choice, and service outstanding. the pool area and grounds were very well maintained, and gave the impression that we were in the middle of nowhere, very peaceful and very well maintained. All of the team at this hotel are so friendly, and always went out of their way to help with anything we needed, and the security guard always there to meet and greet everytime we came and went.

The hotel is well located, they had just completed a food court opposite which had very good choices and very cheap, at the bottom of the road there was always about 10 food stalls set up, very cheap and excellent food. Turn right at the bottom of the road are you have the not so busy beach but there are a few restaurants and the long boats to various destinations, if you keep walking down this road for approx 10 mins you come to a good number of bars and restaurants, all excellent, especially Hippies Bar.

If you turn left at the end of the road you head towards Ao Nang beach, alot busier and more bars and restaurant right on your doorstep.

I would recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a great hotel, and peaceful surroundings with excellent service, and in a very good central location.

Room Tip: Blocks 9 and 10 are central in this resort and very close to everything, not sure about other blocks...
