“Beautiful Location!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 24, 2014

Pristine, light blue water, beautiful rock formations and a cave full of culture. What more can you want?! We visited here on a speedboat tour of the islands. This was the last on our tour. The island was extremely busy. When we were hear we went for a swim into an open cove on the water around the corner from all the hussle and bussle and wow! Suddenly you couldn't hear anyone or anything, it was just you, swimming around this beautiful shaded cove. AMAZING! Great island and I would definitely come back! There is a lot to explore!

“Now just a gimmick”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2014

Since my last visit to this beach they have added an extra cave.
The original was for fisherman and now I have no idea who is maintaining it as it is neither Buddhist nor Muslim as is the local population.
I was rock climbing with the kids next to the new cave and it was just a gimmick for western girls to pose with a bunch of phalluses.
The original cave was for fertility offerings.
The beach itself isn't as good as it used to be with a lot more boat traffic and sewer foam in the water near the cave.
Great spot to rock climb or learn to rock climb in the morning as it is in the shade until about1 in the afternoon.

“Phranang Cave and the cave arete”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2014

This cave is very cool, it's not for the vertically challenged or families with kids. You can hike up from the beach though the trees to see the cave, but to go in you will have to climb a very tall bamboo ladder and be good on your feet. It's a great cave that will go all the way through to the Railay side - which provides a magnificent view of Railay and Tonsai beach. If you have gear to rappel, you can do so from the anchors on this side. THis will get you to the climbing on that wall facing Railay.

We climbed the cave arete, and it is hands down one of the top ten routes I have ever climbed.

“Worth seeing”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2014

Best viewed early doors before the crowds start arriving, we walked from West Railay Beach to Pranang Beach, the beginning of walk isn't the best but the last part is quite enthralling walking beneath overhanging rock formations and stalactites. Well worth the effort.
