“Get a panoramic view of Ao Nang beach”
Reviewed July 25, 2013

I liked about the service. The staff are attentive and won't let us wait very long to get a table. The view from the restaurant is superb. You will see the whole Ao Nang beach from there.

Be there earlier to get a better table and enjoy the view. The Sun sets very fast, you will need some light for a better photo shooting.

Dear Jesshar17,

Firstly, thank you for your review. In recent times (past one year), we have not encountered any guests who were unhappy and having to leave the restaurant without even bother tasting the food that was served. All except one couple that dined with us about a few days ago. The following describes what actually happened on that evening:
The couple, together with their infant, was provided with a complementary transfer from their hotel to the restaurant. They were kept dry and shown to a table on the upper deck.
The couple tried to order alcoholic drinks from the menu after browsing through the menu and was told that no alcoholic drinks could be sold in all F&B establishments in Thailand, including pubs & restaurants. This was because it was Asarnha Bucha Day which commemorates the Lord Buddha's first sermon to his first five disciples after attaining enlightenment.
Upon knowing that alcoholic drinks would not be served to them, the couple shown great displeasure on their faces. Our manager then offered them alternative beverages such as mocktails, smoothies and soft drinks.
After drinks were served, the couple then placed an order of spring rolls as a starter, a vegetarian fried rice and a deep-fried whole seabass with chilli sauce as a main course. After having fully consumed their appetizer, the couple appeared to be in shock when their mains arrived.
Our manager, having noticed exaggerated commotion at the table, approached and asked them what the problem was. I quote their reply: " I have not seen fish served this way in my country. They are usually properly filleted, deboned and served without its head. I feel disgusted now and I wouldn't want to eat that!" The manager then pointed out that it was the whole fish that they ordered and even offered to fillet the fish for them. However, the couple turned really upset and wanted to pay the bill and leave. We obliged as there was nothing more we could do.
At any point of time, no waiting staff, including the manager was rude to the couple.
If the above incident describes what you have experienced at The Hilltop, we hope that you are enjoying a nice filleted, deboned and headless seabass back at home.
If you were not the ones from the above-mentioned incident, please contact us via email as we would appreciate more feedback/details on your experience at The Hilltop. Thank you.

“wonderful view, Great food!! excellent service....”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

Travelling up the steep hill was an ease, with the free transport service provided. Seafood was really fresh and price was reasonable. The fish steam with lime was great! Services of their staffs were top notch. Try to arrive before 6pm as you will be able to catch the sun-set. The place is right in the crowded Ao area yet you could enjoy the privacy of dinning.
