“Amazing holiday”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

We stayed at the Leelawadee from the 4th to the 11th of March. I would agree with the previous review that the review by Abergvie seems as though it was written by someone who stayed somewhere else or is trying to bad mouth the resort and harm its reputation. Tripadvisor- can this person prove they stayed there? I usually would not mention this however it is so inaccurate and reads as though they have never spent 4 minutes here never mind 4 days.

We had an amazing time here. The villas are clean and spacious and the entire resort it very well maintained. The pool is clean and offers great views. The villa has everything you might expect including decent wifi and a mini bar without the usual minibar prices.

The resort is remote from the main hub of Aonang- we only seen this as a benefit as Aonang is busy and noisy and we were after a more peaceful escape. If you want to see much of what the region of Krabi has to offer you will either need to book tours or hire some form of transport. We hired 2 scooters (around £40 each for 1week) and used these to go everywhere even at night. The roads are very good you just need to be sensible. Taxis are also an inexpensive option.

The resort is owned by Paul and run by his daughter Caroline. We have never had such attentive helpful service whilst on holiday. We were collected from the airport by Paul (there is a charge for this) taken to the resort then after we settled in to our Villa we were taken for a short tour of Aonang on our way to collect our scooters.

Caroline and Paul offer a great insite into this beautiful region and gave great advice on what to do, where to go and where to eat ( I would recommend the mango tree near the roundabout for good cheap Thai food). Caroline can book tours and arrange taxis and boat hire. We went kayaking which was beautiful if a a little energetic.

I guess this resort would not be perfect for everyone- don't stay here if all you want to do is lay on a beach and get drunk ( why come all the way to this beautiful place to do that anyway). But if you are after a quiet away from it all holiday in a small intimate resort run by lovely people who really care that you have a good holiday then book the Leelawadee.

For the best prices I would recommend booking direct with the resort but be mindful that they do no accept credit cards as they are too small to qualify for one.

I would like to thank Paul (and is partner Bo) and Caroline for helping us have one of the best holidays ever.

The person who wrote the review on Feb14 must have been staying at a different place. The following review is what I base this on. My wife & I stayed at this location for 14 nights between 6 to 20 Feb. We researched this location for hours on the net. Reading reviews from customers then reading description from resort owners. The photos of the resort are correct, the villas are as seen & they are wonderful. The area is as described, a bit out from town (this fact is never hidden) but all areas are Easily within reach if you either want to hire a car, or get a taxi but better still to hire a scooter. My wife and I went for the peace & quiet this resort offers from all the usual Noise from built up tourist areas. So if you DON'T want a peaceful relaxing holiday book somewhere else. To say the staff are not helpful is a pure lie, Caroline, Paul & Bo (who IS a Thai woman) go out of their way to help you as much as they can. Somethings may be beyond them, but not much as they are only human like anyone else, not gods. There is a washing machine guests can use, not many hotels actually have this luxury as usually you have to take to a private location and it is done and costs per kilo. Why would the resort give you washing powder, not everyone can use the same brand. You can easily bring with you or purchase in the local shops. Regretable I can not give you any photos I took of the resort as my SD card was wiped clean by xray machine at the airport. So make sure you download to computer before leaving resort. Children are not allowed at this resort (this also is not hidden if you take the time to research the resort properly on the net). Do not rely on information descriptions from any booking site. These places don't actually care about true descriptions, all they want is your booking to make their booking fee. Read actual reviews from actual guests who have actually stayed at any resort to make your decission. Thank you to all the staff & Owners for making our stay a relaxing & peaceful time. Kevin & Sharon R

Spend 4 nights in Leelawadee Garden Resort in beginning of february.Hotel is located in a middle of nowhere, arround 7km from Aonang beach(main tourist hub) and 15 km from Krabi town,so without scooter or car main atractions are hardly accessible.4 star hotel has no food or drink option and nearest 7eleven is 2km away, they even do not provide laundry service you need to buy powder yourself and use communal wash mashine.Actually it is more like self serviced holiday apartments, then hotel.Bed inside villa was small and uncomfortable,me and my wife hardly fit in it.No lockers inside a room, villas door with funny locks, that can not be fully locked,no security guards,so we feel ourselves not really secure. "Garden resort" it just a view of industrially looking rubber trees plantation arround a hotel,so no really breathtaking scenery by any means. If you are looking for Thai hospitality and Thai service,it is also wrong place.Hotel management is non Thai people, receptionist by the way not friendly at all is also non Thai.Thai only involved in cleaning,so forget about Thai hospitality there. We did not like hotel at all,Krabi is nice place and there is a plenty of attractive accomodation.Next time in Krabi will definitely choose another option, than Leelawadee.

Me and my fiance stayed at Leelawadee Garden Resort for 4 nights, we originally planned 3, but our time was so pleasant that we decided to stay another. When we arrived we were greeted by both Paul and Bo, owners of the resort, which was a pleasant surprise. The main point id like to make here is that we felt like guests, not passing customers. Even more so when Paul (the co-owner) picked our bags and escorted us to our Villa. I expect this when i go to family, being so humbly greeted by the owners was a surprise, this is what we discovered at Leela, we felt like family.

The Villa's themselves were modern cosy and fitted with everything we required. 1 bedroom with a queen size bed, walk-in wardrobe, bathroom, kitchen and lounge. The location of the resort is about 15 mins away from town, you can easily rent a scooter to save costs from moving about. The villa itself is calm and relaxing, dont expect to have immediate access to the town, thats not the point here, its positioned away from the hustle and bustle of noisy tourists.

Anything we required the friendly owners of Leelawadee we'rent far away to help. Caroline the co-owner assisted us with all that we needed and went above and beyond to ensure we were looked after. From our daytime travel to our travels beyond Leela, we were given advice and guidance, Caroline and Paul even arranged Scooter and a Car at a heavily discounted rate for us! They didnt have to but they did. We'll be back when we next visit Krabi, thank you Paul, Caroline and Bo for an amazing stay.

We stayed here for 5 nights on our travels around Thailand. We booked through agoda, their online booking website cocked the first booking up and when the receipt came emailed thro it had only 1 night not 5 nights, so rang agoda got that bit sorted, they said to rebook again online. Did that, then it also let us book for 2 adults, 1 child, we have a baby, I then find that no guests under 18 allowed when I called and spoke to Caroline. However as we'd paid thro agoda and as she was very helpful she let us stay anyway and found a cot for us too.

The bungalows are of a very high standard and are immaculate. The kitchen area is lovely and the whole thing is very spacious. The outside area is lovely to sit although the mosquitos like to sit with you too unfortunately! The shower is very powerful and doesn't loose power, which isn't common in Thailand, also the water is hot, fantastic!!! The broadband in the room was extremely fast, each room has its own router, it's just like being at home. This was very useful when researching and making our future travel plans. We've stayed in other hotels and had a nightmare with broadband being intermittent, not here, it's fab.

There's a kettle and toaster in room as well as a full size fridge and freezer. We bought a loaf of bread and some eggs etc had breakfast in room every day. The coffee that is in the room is lovely too. Everything is very handy it's a bit of a home from home.

The pool area is also very nice and has lovely tranquil views of the mountains. It has steps leading in to the pool then it slopes to get deeper. It was nice as our little boy could sit on top step and play as shallow enough. And the adults can lie there cooling off in the water. The place seems to have a nice cool breeze which helps. The gardens are very nicely done with lush grass and beautiful flowers. We had this area to ourselves most of the time.

The only thing it's missing is that it could do with a bar or even just a fridge so u can buy drinks or ice creams for sitting by pool.

We liked the fact it's out of Ao Nang and the hustle and bustle. But if u do want to go there it's only 10 minutes and about 20 mins to Krabi.

Caroline and Paul are nice people and gave lots of recommendations and advice on Thailand. They have a dog and cat at the hotel, lovely and friendly, our little boy hadn't had much to do with dogs and cats until then so it was a nice introduction to such a gentle mannered pair, the dog always came and gave a lovely welcome when we pulled up in car.

They do offer room service between 5 and 9pm which is a few compiled menus from local eateries. Caroline then goes and gets it and brings it to your room for u. We had pizza and pasta one night, very nice!

Some days we didn't go anywhere except for food then back to the pool to chill out.

As you may have guessed we loved it here, we wouldn't hesitate to return, we had a really wonderful, relaxing stay.

Staying at Leelawadee Garden really made our trip to Krabi special. The location is close to Krabi town, Ao Nang and the beatiful beach of Ao Nammao. You do need transport to get arround and Caroline organised it for us. Both scooter and car were perfect and easy to make our visits to close or farther places.
It is quiet and surrounded by nature, in a very well kept garden. The villa was luxury. Sparkling clean and perfecty equipped, Modern yet stylishly traditionnal Thai architecture. The bedroom was confortable and the AC worked perfectly. We hardly used the kitchen but it was very well equiped. The living room, terrace and dressing are all you need. The bathroom was very pretty, with a big hot shower. We loved taking our breakfast on the terrace, with the view of nature and listening to the exotic sounds. Plenty of space inside and outside the villa. With only a few villas, it's very peacefull and it was a great spot to relax and spend time after our day visits or just by the pool.
Caroline is a great hostess. Her precious information, organisation and advice make the difference from staying anywhere else. Through her we discovered a lovely local market for fruits and more, that's really worth stopping by.
We had spent our first nights right by the beach in AoNang in a guesthouse, but prefer by far the quietness, luxury and service we found in Leelawadee Garden resort, even if you need the few minutes travelling.
Thank-you Caroline for making our stay so relaxing. We'll definitely come back !

We travelled around south east asia for the 4 time in 4 years and by the time we came to Leela we where in serious need of some peace and calm. Caroline is a warmhearted person who will go to great length to ensure your stay at Leelawadee is perfect.

If we ever come back to Krabi-area again, we will without a doubt stay here again.
