There's a saying - u get what u paid for. ......but i was in for a surprise! :)
My diving wasn't totally planned for as im traveling with a non-diver. Nevertheless, i brought minimum gears and as i went combing the dive shops in Ao Nang, finally settled for the cheapest. So as expected, not luxurious boat ride or sumptuous meal but all bearable. As I had been to many diving sites, including the best service and the worse service, local diving was actually good (minus away boat, equipment) lol... I signed up for 3dives leisure whereas my fr signed up for discovering scuba.
Honestly i haven't expected much as I had dived previously in Koh Samui & Similan, & roughly understand the conditions of Thai's water.
Local Diving picked us up promptly & gave us very clear instructions of the diving etc. Everything was well-taken care of & most importantly was the hospitality of all the staffs. I felt instantly comfortable with them (perhaps that's why i signed with them). Despite all the jokes, they still maintain the professionalism. I rem I asked them to let my fr joined me for leisure so I can take pics for him U/W. But they maintain the safety regulations & thus I respected them on that.
Beside that, my DM was really trying very hard to satisfy me as I told him I'm not interested to see sea horses, turtles etc........ I would prefer to take pics of nulibranch, can really see that he tried very hard to look for it but due to the sites & of cos the season, I knew otherwise but am still touched for the effort given.
As for my fr, he was really proud to be comfortable (buoyancy) instantly & get in touch with the U/W world. He said it was all attributed to his very detailed instructor that led him through with careful observations.
So for us, we were happy & satisfied with the overall experience & with the friendliness of the staffs, makes our diving a memorable one.
Totally enjoyable, u guys rock! :)

I reside in South Korea, and have spent years trying to find a reliable and friendly place to go diving. Local diving was recommended to me by a friend 2 years ago and I have been a loyal customer ever since.

The staff is a good mix of expats and locals who have made my many journeys to Aonang among the most memorable of my life. All the staff are very knowledgeable about the local sea-life and have some of the sharpest eyes I have ever encountered. Nothing is guaranteed when you go diving, but if there is something to see, then the dive guides will spot it. They also treat the reef with respect, which is not necessarily the norm for some diving companies.

Local diving also runs a restaurant that boasts Thai, and some really good foreign food. They make a wonderful chicken on a toasted baguette, but I'm also partial to their Pad Thai. After diving, I like to sit down to a nice cold beer and talk about all the day. The local staff are very friendly and a great source of information for finding the best spots to sleep, drink, party, or relax, and don't be surprised to find yourself in the middle of an impromptu jam session or a bonfire. In fact, my last trip was made better by switching hotels (the staff recommended it) to a beachfront bungalow that cost a little less than $20 dollars a night.

Great diving, staff, and restaurant makes Local Diving a memorable experience.

was an amazing experience, and I'm so glad that the local diving staff were my guides as I scuba dived for the first time. My guesthouse recommended Local Diving, and I promptly signed up to start an Open Water course the next day. My instructor (who has 15 years of experience diving) and the rest of the crew truly made me feel safe the entire time, and their playfulness and easy-going natures made each moment a fun one. I had no problems with the equipment, but I think they could purchase a few new wetsuits to replace the ones that are quite worn out. Lunch provided is typicalThai food, and after the dive, they invited me to feast on the squid and fish they caught that day. Fresh off the boat! Local Diving is owned by a Thai local who cares sincerely about protecting the environment, so if you care about supporting and preserving the local community, and want to have a great time scuba diving, check them out.
