“Stunning!”
Reviewed April 24, 2013

We spent 4 days at the hotel from the 14th to the 17th of April 2013, about two blocks (roughly 10 min relaxed walk) from the beach, this was an amazing hotel. Professional staff, great decor, amazing pool with a small bar facility and a slide to keep the kids happy. Our room was picture perfect and kept immaculate by the staff at all times. The customary cold cloth and cocktail on arrival, staff that speak decent English and even a couple of European staff to assist with any language barriers.

Their breakfast buffet had a large selection that was well presented and cooked to perfection. The service of the waiters was perfect, but that was to be expected if the rest of the staff was any indication. We had supper at the restaurant one night and while we made the mistake of trying their more daring chilli dishes, the food was excellently prepared and dispite our suffering tongues we couldn’t stop eating. This was in fact the one hotel that we actually also used their room service menu twice for supper as well simply because their food was excellent and very well priced.

The room had the standard bar fridge, kettle, safe, television and an excellent air conditioning system. Everything was spotlessly clean and worked perfectly, the shower was supprisingly large as was the bath tub. The gym facilities (while small) were kept in good condition and clean towels and a water fountain were on hand in this air conditioned room with a television for those who like to watch something while they work-out.

Another upside was that it was also close to the normal street markets and made a nice nightly walk to see the sights and sounds. We truly had an amazing stay at the hotel, and while we did miss the view on the beach, we still felt that we got more than our money’s worth and I can definately recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Try to avoid the garden view rooms.

We stayed at the resort over the Songkran break for 8 nights. We chose the resort because it's value for money and discounted rates for Thai residents. We found the rates were some of the best in Thailand (beach resort towns) for the Songkran break. We arrived at the hotel in the evening.. check in was straightforward and quick. We spent the first half of our trip in a Garden view room on the 5th floor. Our son loved the view of the limestone karst formations out of the window. The latter half of the week we moved to a pool access room which had it's own benefits. We loved being able to jump straight into the pool and our three year old loved having his own steps in the water to play on. The only drawback to the pool access room was mosquitos - a common issue in ground floor rooms in much of Thailand we've found. The mosquitos were not an issue in the room itself unless we accidentally left the door open.

The breakfast was the biggest letdown of the resort. It is okay, includes an egg station but is nothing amazing. By the end of the week we were struggling to find something interesting to eat. The breakfast was reminiscent of a three star resort. It was surprising that only regular tea and coffee were available. Most resorts offer a range of teas - at least green tea- which surprisingly was in the tea/coffee facilities in the room but I was told was not available for breakfast; and coffees.. my husband was told that he could have a latte but would have to pay for it.

The hotel staff were attentive and helpful. We had slight difficulty transferring between our rooms in the middle of our stay. The pool staff were kind and seemed to genuinely like children. The breakfast area staff (who worked other areas during the day) often seemed surly and disorganised. On only 1 of the 8 mornings we were there did the breakfast staff provide cutlery and placemats for our son.. other mornings we had to get them ourselves.. often after requesting them and not receiving them.

The spa was lovely and relaxing and prices were very reasonable for hotel spas in Thailand. The pool area was well suited to all tastes, including a waterslide, children's pool, basketball ring and jacuzzi jets area. Of particular note was the presence of many pool toys and balls. The pool toys disappeared over the week but the balls remained. It would be great to see more hotels provide these things in pool areas!

We will absolutely return because aside from the breakfast we had a wonderful time at Centara Anda Dhevi and believe the price and location make for a great long weekend or week away from Bangkok

Room Tip: Pool access rooms are great if you have kids or want your own guaranteed sunchair, but garden view r...

Overall a lovely resort, perhaps better suited to a family trip.

If staying connected to internet or the quality of the cocktails is important to you, book somewhere else.

This resort was on the pricier side of what we were looking for, but we were looking forward to some relaxing days sitting by the pool and sipping cocktails. Unfortunately the cocktails were varied between outright terrible and just mediocre - after trying and disliking the cocktails at the pool bar, lobby bar, and restaurant, we stuck to wine at the resort and ventured out for cocktails.

Another con was the internet - it asked you to re-sign in every time you wanted to check something, even if it had only been a minute since your last sign in. I had a sick family member whilst traveling, so I was checking my e-mail often for updates, and it was incredibly frustrating to not stay logged in, at least on a daily basis (this was the tail end of a month trip to southeast Asia, and the only place we encountered such difficulty using internet).

The restaurant quality depended on the night - the buffet was not worth it, but the a la carte options on other nights were very flavourful and authentic, with just the right amount of spiciness. Although the restaurant had no chopsticks on hand for the noodle dishes, which I wish they had stocked.

Dear Alex S

Thank you for your posting on trip advisor, we do appreciate your feedback as it helps us to improve our service where necessary and to also give praise and encouragement where due.

I was pleased to see you thought our resort lovely and suited to a family trip.

I was sorry to read that the cocktails were not to your liking and will be pleased to conduct some cocktail tasting to investigate further.

As for the Wi-Fi internet, it is provided free of charge throughout the hotel, all rooms as well as all public areas. As you may though appreciate with a full hotel demand is great, as a result for security reasons and for limiting of people abusing the service by down loading movies etc, we do require you to periodically log in.

Thank you also for your comment on the flavourful and authentic food in the restaurant, I will be pleased to pass this on to the Chef and his team.

With regards to the buffet, I am not sure which one you attended as we have two, our East meets West BBQ and our Thai Buffet, priced at THB390++ and THB350++ respectively. This equates to around US$13 and US$11 - to eat as much as you like of the selection of a minimum of 14 hot dishes, (depending on which one our buffets East meets West includes a wide selection of BBQ meats), both buffets include a selection of prepared salads as well as ingredients to make your own, fresh fruits, specialty breads and a selection of desserts. All of this topped off with a singing duo to entertain you while you eat.

Thank you once again for your comments

Kind regards
Wayne Duberly

The best thing about the Hotel is its location - right on Ao Nang beach area, yet away from the hustle and bustle of the main strip. The main dining and shopping area is hardly 5-7 minutes walk away.
I was very satisfied with the pains that the front desk took to make us feel comfortable while trying to accommodate our request for an early check in, unlike some hotels which make you feel unwelcome, till you are actually allotted a room.
The pool is quite narrow, much narrower than what the pictures would suggest. No serious swimming possible here. In fact, the whole property gives a feel of constricted space, which is not expected out of a beach-side resort.
At check out, no help was given in my arranging a transfer to the Ao Nang pier for my family of 8, which left a bad taste in the mouth, unlike the experience while checking in. Guess finally its the individual at the desk, which matters.

Room Tip: Take the pool facing rooms, on higher floors ALternatively, the pool access rooms

We stayed here for 5 nights during our honeymoon and Krabi was our last stop in Thailand. Overall the hotel is nice, modern and well kept. If you are looking for a quiet resort this is NOT the resort for you as there are SO MANY kids. Rooms are spacious and clean with large bathrooms. We opted for a garden view room as the rooms by the pools are super noisy. The hotel itself is located about 5-10 min walk away from Ao Nang beach; we took the tuktuk most of the time as it was super hot (cost: 40 baht for each way). The hotel is close to restaurants and mini marts. The pool is almost always crowded. Service is average; most staff seem uninterested especially at the front desk. I emailed them a month before arriving inquiring about airport pickup upon arrival and I never got a response. When we arrived we tried asking them about taxi information and how much on average it should cost to get to certain places and they said they couldn't answer us cause the service wasn't booked through the hotel (really?!? all the other places we stayed at in Thailand had no problem answering that question). We also asked about tourist attractions and nobody seemed to know anything about it. If you need any taxi services just book with the taxi companies on the street as the hotel overcharges (to the airport: 600 baht with regular taxi service and 800 baht through the hotel). Not too sure why they're trying to make extra money off their guests; if anything wouldn't you want to charge your guests the same price, if not cheaper or have complimentary shuttle service?!? WIFI in the room was terrible; it only worked in one corner of the room during our entire stay. Nice hotel but definitely not service orientated. If I travel to Krabi again, I will definitely look into other properties prior.

Room Tip: Rooms with a garden view is much quieter.

Dear Pootpoot,

Thank you for your comments on tripadvisor following your stay with us. It is through your feedback that we are able to give praise where due and to also improve on the service we offer where we have fallen short.

I was pleased to read your kind comments in regard to the hotel being well kept, good spacious rooms and large bathrooms and will be pleased to pass this on to the team.

As commented on in some of my previous replies, this is high season for this region and, as a result there will be families and children around as is to be expected.

I was sorry to read you felt our Front Desk service was average, this is certainly not what we strive to achieve and usually do achieve (as commented on by previous reviewers) and I will certainly mention this to my Front Office Manager to follow up with her team.

We also have a dedicated Guest Service Agent for information and booking of tours, not to mention three folders on the tour desk giving all this information. I am sorry this was not shown to and advised to you at the time and I will certainly follow this up.

If I may though also comment in regard to your mentioning about our hotel transport being 200 baht (approximately US$6) more expensive than the local Taxi you pick up from the street.
Our hotel cars are new, are well looked after and regularly serviced as per manual guidelines. They are legally licensed for the transport of guests, so too are our drivers qualified and tested drivers. When booking through the hotel, this means we are responsible and will ensure you are collected / leave on time, our cars will also not smell of breakfast, lunch or dinner, our AC will work effectively and we provide water, music and depending on the time of day a newspaper for you to read. For all this, yes we may charge a little extra but at the end of the day, we are offering a level of safety, service and comfort we believe our guests are looking for.

Once again thank you for your feedback and I do hope you may have the opportunity to stay with the Centara Family in the future.

Kind regards
Wayne Duberly

We have just returned from a fabulous month long stay at Centara Anda Dhevi our 4th visit in
16months we just cannot get enough of this wonderful hotel and the fantastic staff we really are
treat like honoured members of the family. The hotel had 98% occupancy most of the time we
were there and we loved every minute of our stay that must tell you something. Yes there were
a lot of children staying but most Scandanavian countries have long school holidays in late
February and March so they head for the sun and it was happy noise it is very easy to head for the Islands if it gets to much or the Emerald Pool and the Hot Springs in the National Park. The staff are exceptional Peter the Head Chef is a genius and given notice he will cook something different for you,BBQ night and Thai nights are very good value and the entertainment on both nights are very good and they love you to get up and have a dance or
sing along with them. The Lobby Bar Happy Hour has become very popular mostly due to Su and Wan (the elegant Thai Girl) whos standard of service and attention to detail is 1st class. The spa is a little bit of heaven and was my biggest indulgence Massages Body Scrub and Facials all sheer bliss Ying and Fab are so talented. Pom around the pool is an absoute delight she works hard and always smiles, Nu and Rud and all the staff in the restaurant are so attentive and love a laugh it really is the Land of Smiles. Our room was consistently immaculate
over 28 days this is no mean feat and the laundry service also excellent. Reception staff were
always friendly and interested where you were going and if you enjoyed your day. Wayne GM
is dedicated and caring and runs the hotel as if it is his own business and will do everything in
his power to ensure you enjoy your stay. Almost everyone we met said they would like to return
to Centara Anda Dhevi. Do not hesitate to try this lovely hotel it is fantastic we love it and cannot wait to return. We return home feeling at least 10 years younger.

Room Tip: We prefer 5th floor Pool view room

This is our 2nd visit to Krabi. Previously we stayed at the Mercure which was great but this time we chose the Centara. We booked directly through the hotel and got a great rate for a pool access room with breakfast included.
I was a bit worried about the service after reading some recent reviews on TA but I shouldn't of been. We are still here and so far our experience has been very good.

The pool has a great design with a slide, a basketball ring, a pool bar, jacuzzi and a separate kiddie pool so plenty of things to do while your in it and lots and lots of fun.
As others have mentioned, the sun lounges are placed close together but if you get a pool access room you get your own balcony with 2 sun lounges of your own.
My only complaint about the pool is that that the water was very warm. The sea water has also been quite warm though...it has been so hot.

Our pool access room is lovely. Very modern and clean and quite spacious. We had 2 queen beds in our room. The beds are firm but comfortable.
The bathroom has a separate shower and a bathtub.
The air con worked very well and so did the wi-fi.

We have found the staff to be polite and friendly. They always greet us whenever they see us...which makes us feel really welcome.
The reception staff were EXTREMELY helpful when my husband needed some assistance with some personal business. They went out of their way to help him and this was an enormous help to us, so many thanks to them.

The breakfast is ok not an enormous buffet but you can get eggs cooked to order, cereals, fruit, French toast etc. ..everything you need.
My son is a fussy eater and when we asked them for pancakes, they cooked them up for us with no fuss and we really appreciated it.

The hotel is about 15 mins walk into Aonang town. We usually take a tuk tuk into the centre (which are located right in front of the hotel) for 20bht pp and then walk back after dinner.

This hotel is just fantastic for families and I highly recommend it. Hopefully your experience will be as good as ours.

Room Tip: Pool Access rooms are great.
