“Nice and relaxing for family”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2013

The resorts is not very big and for this reason the privacy/comfort is higher then standard compared to the big hotel chains.
Nice design and clean rooms.
We stayed in a nice and confy suite (2 adults and 2 kids, 4 and 7 years old) with 2 big windows overlooking the rain forest.
Nice pool.
Nice gym.
Massage is good but on request and a bit expansive compared to the price you will find around town (you are paying for the comfort to get in it where you stay).
Breakfast is not the fanciest but there is enough to start the day.
Staff is really kind and try to help you with any matter.
The resort is not the closest to the beach but shuttle service is very efficient and if you don't mind to walk, you can reach the beach front/city center in about 10 minutes.
Taxi (tuc-tuc) are available for about 60 Bath per trip.
Overall a nice stay if you like quite place. (only noise is a mosque in the vicinity, once in a while you can hear the prayer but very seldom)

I booked this resort directly via a phone-call to the manager. There was some confusion in the beginning regarding the booking because of a mix-up with another customer who also had the same check in date, but all was resolved and the manager apologized promptly.

I booked a 1 bedroom villa for 3 nights as part of a honeymoon package. Honestly it was pretty expensive, due to peak season. I believe it shouldn't have cost that much, and still believe that any resorts in Ao Nang shouldn't cost that much. This is due to the fact that almost everything is cheap in Ao Nang, so when you have a high priced resort, it really does take the magic of Ao Nang away.

But the package was pretty awesome i must say. It included a round trip for the 4 island tour (I highly recommend getting into the ocean for the snorkeling) 2 candle lit dinners (tasted great!! they really cook well for dinners), a spa treatment (1 and half hours, damn good masseur) and Round trip transfer to and from Krabi Airport.

the welcome drinks are as good as others have mentioned. im curious as to what they put in there. i don't even like sweet drinks but it was good man.

The 1 bedroom villa is honestly a bit small. And i echo the previous reviews that the floor-trap of the shower does stink of poo. Its probably clogged causing ventilation to back flow. The shower tap operation is abysmal. You probably need a degree to get this working to the correct temperature. The water pressure is so so so low. they do not use pumps, so the pressure is what you get from the water mains reticulation. If everyone is showering at the same time, good luck. The bed is hard, which i don't mind. the pillows are firm, but now as dreadful as what others have been saying.

BUT!! there is a big but. They are a Muslim resort, which is fine.. except for the fact that there is a HUGEEEEEE mosque near the resort. I couldn't hear it blaring when i was sleeping (i was that tired maybe? cos I've read other people say that they pray at ungodly hours like 5AM) but you can hear it when you are in the pool or walking around the resort. So .. if you are a light sleeper... this may be your ultimate deal-breaker. I suggest enjoying yourself so much that you are exhausted and sleep like a log. otherwise, stay elsewhere.

There are ants around, and they are a turnoff. But i never ventured into the kitchen much so it was cool. The drinking water provided was..... sweet. That was a major culture shock. I went out to 7-11 to get another brand, and they all tasted weird. maybe its their processing that is different here. oh well.

The resort provides round trip shuttle service (FREE!) to Mc-Donalds or to the police station by the beach side. In order for you to get a ride back (which stops at 10PM), you need to call them and they arrive within 5 mins. So, i'd suggest you buy a prepaid sim card (DTAC Happy Tourist is the best honestly, free unlimited internet for 7days FTW!) to do this.

If not, rent a scooter, for like 200 baht a day. Much more fun and you dont limit your exploration to just up-til 10PM. p/s do not pump at the station in Ao Nang, they rip tourists off. You get half of what you should get.

Alas, the last but not least. the breakfast. I am not picky, but i must say, the breakfast is the same every day. I will go into this with more detail that previous reviewers. They serve boiled ham, boiled sausages, french toast, toast cereal, some fried noodles and etc every day. The saving grace is the made to order eggs (the chef does not talk. I mean, he is like the terminator.) and Meiji Yoghurt. If you aren't happy with the breakfast then don't order it. Go out to have a padthai for 40baht. Sorted.

All in all, i had a beautiful trip to Ao Nang, and this resort added to that beautiful memory. its beautifully designed, the staff are so so so so so polite and the dinner rocks. Just that it is pricey. if i may say it again. pricey.

Recommended if you wanna splurge. and are a heavy sleeper. and go out for breakfast..

Let's me write a very honest and fair review about this hotel and you can decide if you wanna to book or not. Let's start with the positive:

1. Hotel is surrounded by lush garden tropical plant and flowers so it feels very secluded from the very busy main streets in Aonang. Personally I think they did a marvellous job with the design of the hotel.

2. Location - some of the reviews said it's very far from the main strip of Aonang. Well it takes around 15m to walk. In fact main road before reaching the Aonang beach has some extremely great local restaurant and western cafés with extremely reasonable prices. The shuttle bus is always avail if you are just too posh or lazy to walk. It takes you right on the beach and service is run until 10pm.

3. Staff - some reviews said they don't speak English and found it hard to communicate. For heaven sake, you're in Thailand and English is not their first or second language. Bear in mind that most thai people do not have the luxury to even go to school. So get a grip about communication issue. In fact, they will try the hardest to help you.

4. Muslim/Chanting - this makes me laugh actually. You are in a Muslim region of Thailand and staying in a Muslim resort. Of course you will see mosque ard the corner, Muslim people, chanting, no alcohol and etc. This is their culture so please show some respects towards the local people. If you want alcohol or no chanting then it's best for you to cancel your trip in krabi or lanta because no matter where you go, you will still hear chanting at 5am!!!

5. Facilities and room - room is extremely spacious and the balcony is great to just chill out. Pool area is clean and you do not need to fight for sun chair because they are hardly anyone there anyway. Gym has some weights, treadmill and machine for those who can't live without pumping muscles. Get a room on 3rd floor as it has better view. Those who complained about no lift must be either lazy fat people or disabled. It's good for your legs by walking only a few steps.

The only negative I had was the breakfast. Sadly breakfast was a total let down. Hotels in Asia offer the most amazing breakfast but for a 4 stars hotel, I think it was pretty bad. Basically, they have western stuff like croissant, muffin, bread, cereal and etc but they don't look fresh at all. Then the thai bits which usually have rice, stir fried curry were not appealing at all. You can order different eggs but it's rather busy so you may have to wait up to 15m. They also charge for cappuccino or latte which is quite surprising. I think they are aware of this issue and I hope management will do something about this as it could be a big turn off for some travellers.

Room Tip: Get a room on 3rd floor as it has better view.

We are currently staying at the Phu Pi Maan resort and spa and after reading the last few reviews we were a bit tentative in coming I.e. Bugs, ants poor service etc but I have to say that was all dispelled after our first night. We were welcomed with a juice and a smile from the staff, who also helped us up the stairs with our luggage , not that we needed to be helped. We we're gobsmacked at the size of our room and the facilities available. We weren't woken by chanting, maybe a rooster or two. Breakfast was adequate and relaxing. We swam in the pool last night and found it to be lovely and refreshing. It is only a short walk into town, we were expecting from all reports to be kilometres away but it is not far at all, the hotel will drive you into town if you are a bit lazy but really no need. As far as alcohol goes, yes it is Muslim owned and there is no alcohol but big deal you can bring some back from town if you can't do without it. Bathroom is fantastic nice big shower and a bath, also a nice balcony. We found 2 ants big deal! Great place highly recommended don't be put off by negative reviews.

Room Tip: We had a top floor room one back from the front and it was fantastic. Didn't use spa so can'...

Booking.com have no mention of this being a non alcohol hotel and that every morning you will be waken at 5 and 6 by the loudspeaker chanting from the next door mosque, and when asked if we could cancel, we were told we would loose all our money from the booking. Staff not very helpful at all
Also there are no lifts in the hotel so you will have to walk up the long stairs to your rooms and as there are no lifts the cleaning trolly for room service is always in the corridors of each floor!!!
AVOID at all cost if you want a relaxing hoilday and you like a drink at the pool bar or with a meal
VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTED, You have been warned!!

Room Tip: No lift in hotel so if you have trouble walking Avoid!!

We checked in expecting to spend a 3 nights at the Ao Nang Phu Pi Maan Resort & Spa in Krabi and barely made it through the first night. There were ants in the sheets, towels and worst of all, they moved into our luggage, all within 12 hours. I should note that this doesn’t include the bugs in the food and juice the next morning, totally disgusting. We’ve stayed all across Thailand and are familiar with pest control methods however the Ao Nang Phu Pi Maan doesn’t appear to use any, or are simply over-infested beyond help. The resort is supposedly 4-star rated however it felt more like 1.5, if that. If you are expecting a clean and relaxing time, think again. Oh, and the worst part…they wouldn’t give us a refund and seemed not to care about our concerns. We ended up leaving and moving into Krabi Town for the remaining 2 nights, without a penny refunded to us. If you want a clean place, definitely look somewhere else.

My girlfriend and I visited Phu Pi Maan resort a year ago. We stayed for two nights whilst travelling Thailand and both found it to be the perfect choice for relaxation. It is set back from the busy part of town and is very quiet. The staff there were extremely friendly and helpful. The pool area is stunning and the breakfast was both filling and delicious. The room was very clean, modern and spacious. The only slight issue was that the resort is located quite a distance from the beach, though it is within walking distance. I highly recommend Phu Pi Maan for couples looking for a relaxing holiday.
