nice small resort with a breathtaking garden in which the bungalows are gathered around a pool. Staff will try to fullfill all your wishes.
Resort is situated appr. 300m from the wide sandy beach (NO umbrellas permitted) and pier. You can make some excursions to the islands around (compare prices) You don't need to visit Rai Lee Beach West = terrible stony and long boats everywhere.
Note: you can swim only at hight tide!
Resort: Breakfast is a little bit limited but ok.
Friendly staff
The bungalows are spacy. It might happen that you'll have a subtenant at the attic: a mouse? But don't worry. They will not come inside...
All over all I can recommend this resort in Krabi. I would book it again.

Room Tip: any bungalow

We spent 10 nights at bungalow No. 9, and we got exactly what we paid for.

Service was good: the staff took us by their tuk-tuk anytime anywhere (within Ao-Nang area), breakfast was always nice (3 different menu, which were a little bit boring by the end), staff were always smiling.

You can use a free wifi at reception area, which is central social place of staff and guests. This common area quiet enough at daytime but in later afternoons and in evenings playing kids and thai television programms can be disturbing.

The bungallows situated in a nice and quiet garden. The pool is not big enough for swimming, but good enough to chill yourself. 2-3 times happened smaller kids used the pool a little bit loudly around 7-8 am.

The room was spacious, bed was a little bit hard for me.There is fridge in the room, air con was operational and controllable. Bathroom was 2 steps lower than the room, now it had a ceiling with mosquito net. It was strange for me that the sinker (a hole in the ground) was on the opposite side of the bathroom than the shower so the waste water flowed through the hole bathroom so the floor was always wet.

I am a bit afraid of wild life, but I just had problem with ants of different sizes. During last night I had a frightening experience: I found a really huge cockroach in the bathroom. My husband killed it, so do not be afraid ;-).

The closest Nopparat Tara beach was nice in mornings. The water is really shallow, but in afternoons you have to walk 200-300 meters to reach the water because of low tide. Local thai families had picnic on this beach every afternoon leaving huge garbage dumps everywhere. Central Ao Nang beach is better, but a bit far from the resort.

If you are in Ao Nang, try the beaches on different islands - they are beautiful. Railay and Phra Nang is nice, Poda is really beautiful: christal clear water, fishes everywhere (do not forget your mask & snorkel).

We paid 1200 baht / night + 200 baht for breakfast. We were staying longer than 10 nights so we had to find another accomodation in Ao-Nang for a couple of extra nights. We realized that this 1200 baht is a very good price for a clean and more or less modern bungallow in this area. You can find cheaper without air conditioning or in older resorts but it is worth to this price.

Ww recommend this resort if you would like to see Thailand's real face - wild garden, quiet and pleasant accomodation, friendly staff.

Room Tip: Ask for a room close to reception if you would like to use wifi in your room. Do not expect european...

I stayed here because of the proximity of the "resort" to Nopparat pier. The family who run the hotel are friendly and helpful even though their English is very limited. They kept offering me free rides in their motorcycle and sidecar "taxi" and provided smashing breakfasts. They have their own website which is easy to find via search engines.

Baan Po Ngam is situated on a very quiet lane off the main loop road from Ao Nang. That road is itself pretty quiet. Around the resort there is tropical greenery. It's a ten minute walk to Nopparat Beach and pier.

There are semi-detached and detached bungalows. I was given Room 13 which was a semi though I never heard the people next door. The room quality was good. Spacious and pleasantly furnished. There was a TV and fridge. The bathroom was large and clean but oddly was open to the outer air - with a big constructional gap under the eaves. I thought this might invite a mosquito problem but I was wrong.

I was the only guest who used the swimming pool while I was there. Though fairly small you good swim a good few strokes from end to end and the water was clean.

I wasn't much impressed with the resort of Ao Nang itself. Its main plus point seems to be that it provides boats out to the neighbouring islands and to lovely beaches around the limestone "karst" headlands.

Room Tip: Ask for a detached bungalow.

We like to stay on the edge of towns usually and we found this place about 700 mtrs N/W of Noppharat Thara Beach which is the first beach to the west of Ao Nang Beach.
We hired a motor bike and then push bikes on different days though daily would walk early into Ao Nang which would take about half an hour . It takes only 10 minutes to walk to the shops and Noppharay beach . We always enjoyed our walk into Ao Nang as it is along a good path which is all shaded by huge trees, which is great for that hot Thailand climate . The property has about 13 individual bungalows with large bedroom and separate sunken bathroom . The rooms have hanging cupboard , free wi fi internet , a writing desk , fan & aircon . Barfridge with small bottle of water each day . The bathroom is large with a small garden in it . The grounds have a small household size pool with a few sunloungers and we found it a perfect private spot . There were not many guests there as I think people may not be aware of its location . But the few that stumbled on it were all very happy with the accommodation and nice breakfast included for the great economy price that they paid . The staff were very friendly especially Wee who served us at breakfast and usually delivered our pancakes to our room . We had a few nights at this resort and then went to Koh Lanta and they kindly looked after our bags till we returned . They also invited us to a candle ceremony on the beach which was great . Nothing was a problem for them . They had a lovely open air restaurant made of all timber and rope and bamboo . Breakfast was a choice of 3 dishes . Usually coffee/tea and toast and fruit , or you could add on Museli or eggs of some sort . It was an ample breakfast with great coffee .The only problem a prospective guest may have is getting in contact with them . When we went to Koh Lanta , we were only going for 1 or 2 nights but decided to stay longer . We ended up stay 7 nights . I emailed back to Baan Po Ngam Resort on 2 occassions to let them know we would be back later then we said . when we arrived back they said they never checked their emails so did not know what happened to us . You will always find a room here and if you dont hear back from them , I think its better to still turn up and they will offer a good price . Thats what we did for our 3 weeks in Thailand and it worked extremely well .
