“BAD HOTEL! RUN AWAY!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2012

Don't go in this hotel! The localisation is ok, closed to the beach, a lot of restaurants, bars all around, but the hotel is a bit noisy, but our room was clean. The main problem is that they stole us our money... Cleaning ladies are thiefs!! Be careful!

The staff is very kind, helpfull and always greets you warmly when they see you come. it's not a resort as the name suggest, it's well 5 minutes walk to the beach. The location is along the main road, surround by the shops, restaurants, massages service, bars and laundry so it's worth it for your money. Wi-fi is very good. The swimming pool is on the top of the roof where you can enjoy the view of Ao Nang and the beach. Clean big room with flat screen TV and hard warm shower. But if you need a good night sleep don't take the room on the street side because the loud noise accross the street will not stop untill 02.00 am

Room Tip: Rooms on the back side are less noise, Bed is good, the shower is hard and warm

Located athe mainroad to Ao Nangs beach, White Sands offers a nice place to sleep. Rooms are spacious, bathroom has good shower and there is a water boiler for making our own tea and breakfast, because that was not included in our agoda booking. On the top floor there is a swimming pool. The front desk staff has been very friendly and it is easy to organize trips and activities by them, like daytrip to Koh Phi Phi or Elephant trekking. White Sands is located in the middle of Ao Nangs party night life, which is audible by music late at night. After a day of snorkling it is easy to sleep through. Food, laundry and shops are just at your doorstep and the beach is just about 200 meters away, where you can enjoy sunset at about 6.00 pm.
White Sands is a nice place to stay and they are currently busy constructing some cottages more away from the street.

I can only imagine the hotel has switched management since the previous reviews in 2010.

I must admit I was cautious when booking this hotel due to the reviews on here, though I did check Agoda and found that the reviews looked a lot better, so went in for a bit of a risk. At 12 pounds a night, we would hardly lose out.

Originally booking 2 nights in Ao Nang, we quickly realised what a great deal this hotel was and ended up staying 10 nights.

The staff are absolutely brilliant. They clearly all get along with each other and this shows in their day to day performance. All super friendly and efficient. Here's why:

- Totally flaked out and booked the wrong dates a month ahead. We arrived at 10:30 am looking to see if we could check in. They told us that they didn't mind, we'd have to speak to Agoda and ask them to contact reservations the next day (as it was a Sunday), but otherwise gave us a key and off we went.

- Arranged the most competitive prices on tours. We spent a casual day looking around town for deals and realised that the original prices quoted by the hotel were the best

- Girlfriend cut her foot snorkelling with a company we booked ourselves (beware of companies saying they have insurance - not all of them actually do). They helped us contact them and speak to them in Thai

On top of this each member of staff was always happy to see us and smiling. The cleaning lady was excellent and in our stay of three hotels in Thailand so far (including an apparent 5 star hotel) the cleaning here was the best. Immaculate.

This isn't a 5 star resort. If you're expecting luxury you won't find it here. The rooms are more than suffice however, with a flat screen tv with a few channels, a balcony/terrace area, minibar drinks priced incredibly reasonably and a small, mostly empty, rooftop pool with a fantastic view of Ao Nang and the beach. There is noise across the road from the bars, but switching on your aircon stops most of that. If you're particular about noise, stay at the back of the hotel. For 12 pounds a night this is it.

It's next to a Subway, Mcdonalds, Starbucks and 711. It's opposite a road you can drink if you want. It's next to some of the best street stalls we've seen so far in Thailand (order the grilled chicken from the place right outside on the left). Ten steps to your right you have all the shops, and continue down 5 minutes and you're at the beach.

This is more than we expected and for this reason we would come back time and time again (if it does stay at 12 pounds!). My only issue is that the beds, like most of Thai beds, are rock hard. I'm sure there's some sort of shared stakeholders in hotels and massage parlours. PU massage across the road gave both of us one of the most excellent massages in our lives, and another time the worst. Seems like lottery on who you get, but worth it for the good one :)

Room Tip: Front side is a bit like having the radio on all night (didn't bother us). Back probably less no...

i stayed here for three nights and found this place to be value for money. you do not have spend huge amount, the facility is also limited. you get hygenic, spacious rooms which is good if you do not plan to spend too much time in the hotel . not a beach side resort, as the name suggests, but near to the beach. you can expect Thai hospitality and the staffs are very cordial and you get a warm welcome.

Room Tip: eating out for dinner would be a good option as there are lot of eateries around...

Along with 20 colleagues, I stayed at White Sand Krabi resorts for 3 nights in Nov 2011. Our check-in took about 30 minutes, probably due to the large group size. However, they did serve us cordial drink while we waited, which is quite thoughtful.

I was assigned to a twin sharing room at level 3, facing carpark. Overall, the room look clean but has nothing to rave about. Hard rock bed with a flat pillow affected my quality of sleep. 2 complimentary bottles of water supplied daily with decent room make up service. Compared to other 3 stars hotels in thailand, very basic supply of toiletries are available here only. The flat screen TV was nice to look at initally but upon switching on, I felt giddy as the visual were grainy. Even if you do not mind the grainy visual, there are only about 5 channels to choose.

As for bathroom, I really loath the shower area. Firstly, the shower area is too small, I often find myself knocking against the shower area sliding door although I am a petite asian. I wonder how bigger size guests are going to bathe in the small shower area. Secondly, the temperature tap does not seems to take instruction well (same feedback were heard from my colleagues in other rooms).

What could be worst? On 26 Nov 2011 afternoon, following some strenous sports activities at beach, all I wanted is a nice cool shower back in hotel. To my dismay, the hotel is experiencing power and water failure, possibly due to renovation work. The power and water was only resumed after close to 2 hours.

It is also worth mentioning that the hotel only offers 1 set of keys per room. So, if the 2 guests sharing room has different plans for the day and returning to hotel at different time, you are required to deposit the keys at the counter. There is also no phone in the room. Some may find it troublesome though.

As for hotel breakfast, I did check out but did not bother try eventhough it is complimentary for us as I always prefer to save my stomach space for local fare when I travel. Based on my observation, the breakfast has a limited spread of both thai and usual western fare. On further note, the dining area is open air area, accompanied by non-human fellow diners such as flies and birds.

Despite of various negative points, White Sand Krabi does has its own merit. Firstly, the hotel is located along the main street with restaurants, shops, massage parlour just a stone throw away. Nevermind about the pathtetic supply of toiletries too, as the wide abundance of convienence stores surronding the hotel is well stocked with common brands of toiletries. In addition, the small but quiet rooftop pool with great mountain view is major plus point. Moreover, although the staff are not fluent in English, they were quite helpful and pleasant.

In conclusion, while I like the location of the hotel, I would not recommend the hotel to fussy travellers or if you are staying for more than 2 nights.

Room Tip: How to navigate yourself? When facing the road outside hotel’s entrance – the downward slope (right...
