The main selling point of Lae Lay Grill is its magnificent view of Ao Nang and mountains. This is a unique setting for a seafood restaurant - not seaside by high up above everything. As such, Lae Lay is superb for a romantic evening or fine dining with friends. Sunset here was awesome.
The food here is naturally seafood, with interesting variations on western-style dishes such as fried shrimp salad as well as tried-and-true Thai dishes like steamed fish in spicy line sauce and grilled prawns. Most came out okay but the grilled prawns were overlooked and came sticking to the shells. You can probably get superior seafood down below on the beaches. A highlight was the Mu Hom, stewed pork belly cooked in herbs southern Thai-style.
Service here was more professional than many places with waiters handling wines efficiently. One non-menu request was misunderstood, probably because the staff could not deal with things beyond the menu.
Lae Lay Grill is a nice place to try out if you are looking for a great dinner atmosphere. Not many restaurants in Ao Nang come close to it in that regard.

Really good food and great views. Yes service was a bit slow, but what's the rush when you are on vacation

Restaurants in Ao Nang can be a little samey, but the Lae Lay Grill is definitely something special. The menu is vast and the seafood is the star of the show. We enjoyed starters, mains (one of which was lobster) and sharing sides plus a bottle of prosecco and it came to £80 (including tax). It's located on an elevated position with nice views over Ao Nang and whilst we missed sunset, we've been informed that that's the best time to go.
The staff were friendly and after explaining that we were in Krabi for our honeymoon they gave us a really great table and looked after us very well. A lovely little restaurant!

We visited the restaurant after fnding pretty mediocre food in Ao Nang and reviewing it on tripadvisor.

The restaurant is a short walk from the main road in Ao Nang and it is signposted on a billboard at the road end. Once at the restaurant you are transported up the rather steep hill via truck. This is quite fun and gives a sense of adventure. The restaurant is perched on the hillside and the views and sunset ( we didn't see due to cloudy day) will be stunning.

I didn't think it was expensive compared to UK but definitely more than you pay in Thailand. I however had Lobster Thermidor and it was to die for, so yummy. My husband had a steak and this too was delicious.

I would recommend for service, food, view ad a little adventure.

The food is good, the view marvelous, the prices are exorbitant. We do not appreciate menu prices that are topped with service tax and V.A.T.!

Call a cat a cat: list your prices totally!

Children menu is terrible; meat was stiff like a flipflop.
