We went to the Lae Lay Grill recently after reading the great reviews on Tripadvisor. The restaurant has a great location, perched on top of a cliff. They have nice outdoor seating where you can enjoy the breathtaking view. We went very late and were the last customers to leave so we got great service from all the staff as by the end of it, we were the only ones they were serving.
We had the steamed grouper with lemon and garlic sauce and also the whole lobster with black pepper. The fish was very fresh but unfortunately it was slightly over steamed. I am very fussy about steamed fish and one of the most important aspects of serving high quality steamed fish is to get the timing perfect. This one was slightly over steamed and the fish got slightly dried up and flaky. Still, taste wise pretty good. The lobster was a disappointment. The lobster meat was doused in a sticky, salty, pepper sauce. The sauce could well be from a cheap store bought bottle and totally ruined the taste of the lobster. The biggest disappointment was that the lobster was really fresh and of good quality and was ruined by the excessive sauce. When you order lobster, you want to taste the lobster and not the sauce.
I mentioned this to the staff and they apologized and recommended that I order just the lobster in butter next time.
