We stayed six days over a New Year and had lovely time here. The bungalow was located on the beach and it was AC free which we prefered. The space was abundant although the interior showed marks of time. The beds were on the harder side but we liked them and slept like babies 10 hours a day. The pilows we did not like but were exchanged without a problem.
The food is provided in the dining area. It is delicious and priced b. 2 and 3 Eur we found the pricing reasonable for what we got. The shakes are formidable! Twice we walked along the beach to the local market in the village Khlong Muang nearby /Fridays and Mondays afternoon only/ where we bought fruit and some local sweets which our kids adored.
The beach is yellow sand w. shells. Very pleasant and lots of shade if wanted. The water is warm :), tiding is quite significant so expect that part of the day one can not swim. We did use the cannoo provided by the resort once and had extended walks along the solitary beach. The resort organises day trips to nearby islands with its own boat. We also made some trips w. Green Planet agency located in Ao Nang which were cheap and good.
A great place w. only minor flaws. The service has room for improvement, no doubt. Personnel is kind, hard working if a bit remote and cold. The sport facilities have potential but need serious renovation. Pieces of Glass on the beach are a concern even if deposited from the sea.

The room is clean, the beach is 7 seconds from your bed. It's wonderful. IF I am to nitpick... then yes, the bed a bit hard, the water pressure wasn't all that and it's a dark scary drive back from ao nang at night. But with the beach, the nice rooms, the fantastic Tanu team who would arrange everything from island hopping to visits to arranging any transportation u need... the cons are trade off I would gladly face again.

Although the hotel is advertised as Ao Nang, it is a half an hour taxi from the main Ao Nang area. There isn't really anything there at Pine Bungalows, so it feels like you are confined to the hotel for all meals, which were fine but nothing more impressive than that. I think we would have enjoyed the stay more had the weather been better, but unfortunately it rained the entire time we were there, with little else to do. Most of the other guests sat in the dining area all day, each playing on a different phone, tablet or laptop which seemed very strange to us and produced a very strange atmosphere. The table tennis table did offer us an hour of fun at least.

We booked for 4 nights and only stayed for 1, moving on in search of more atmosphere and things to see and do. However, the beach is very beautiful and if you were in one of the bungalows overlooking the sea, I'm sure you could spend many an hour just looking out. We were perhaps unfortunate with our trip and this may be exactly what someone else is looking for, but unfortunately this hotel was not for us.

Excellent: location, food, service, staff, and whatever else I've forgotten.

Having staid here last December, I knew I wanted to return. Had such a good impression and experience then, it seemed obvious to return. Coming in July, in the throws of rainy season - half the bungalows are under construction, running on a skeleton crew .... This is still an ideal place to stay.

The first hour of Ao Nang was more than any of us could tolerate; simply not our speed.
When I called Pine Bungalows to ask about availability, I was forewarned about rain & room construction & cautioned that maybe it was not ideal because it is so quiet (no night life).
We (3 of us) appreciated the forthcomingness of that. We came anyway.
Excellent decision!

The few staff were very gracious and helpful. They prepared wonderful food based on a limited menu (slow season & we being their only patrons).

This was a fine place to stay in December ... And a great place in July!

If are looking for a quiet and not yet spoiled stretch of beach, this is a wonderful choice. I'd say ideal choice.

If you need trinket shopping, hawkers of every kind, 5-star hotels, night life, steady sounds of traffic, a new tattoo, or senseless consumerism, then this may not be the place for you.

Room Tip: The address for the place can be a little deceiving - it is not "in" the town of Krabi; it...

Pine bungalow

Cozy bungalows, great location. Not on the main beach but you can rent scooters from the hotel, they are very laid back and aren't a motorbike place that will try to scam u. Unlike koh Tao or phanagan this place is actually safe to drive a scooter, real roads. Food is a tad pricey but very good. Not much option unless u go to the main beach but even there unless ur eatin at a stall its all pricey.

Rooms are clean and affordable. Nice to be a bit secluded from the main beach - too busy and too many boats. You can stroll this beach and the neighbouring one, and just go to town when you want :)

I'd recommend!

ok its not crazy expensive like you would expect in the western world but after 1 week here we spent around £400.
i know, i know, its only £400 for 1 weeks accommodation, food and drink and a private beach but that is more expensive than else where.
the room was basic and we had an ant colony in the bathroom.
the beach is nice, good sand and water although when the tide goes out in the evening it changes completely.
the food was good, although service was unfriendly and confusing at times.
and finally because you dont pay for anything until the end, you can rack up quite a bill.
im sure they love doing this, you are on holiday, sure one more beer, one more ice cream, add it to the bill...
one more thing, it did feel very much like we were intruding when we first got there. many people stay there for weeks on end, so it felt like 'who are these people intruding on my holiday?'. staff did nothing to expel this feeling as they were quite cold also.

We stayed here based on other reviews, and while it does have great views, and is very inexpensive for the bungalows, we never were made to feel welcome here. The bungalows are very near to the beach, which is very stony and covered with coral, making it difficult to walk on or swim. Not at all ideal for suntanning or lounging. There are hammocks near the shoreline, which is nice, but they are a hot commodity. Bungalows are old, and not terribly clean, lots of insects due to the location in the foliage, plus the construction with lots of wood seems to mean more ants etc. The bed was very uncomfortable, and we had trouble sleeping, even though it is very quiet at night. Service at the restaurant was always slow, and you never knew if you were going to get served or not. We were constantly overcharged for items, they especially could not be consistent on the beer prices. Food was always very good, but seemed to be more expensive for everything compared to Ao Nang for example. I guess you can do that when you have a captive audience. There is nothing else near here, so there are no alternatives. Generally, the staff was not very friendly, and the only person who I ever saw smile was the older lady in the kitchen. I would definitely not stay here again, and would not recommend it to anyone else. It is inexpensive, but there is no "value" in staying here.

Room Tip: Beachfront Bungalows have a great view
