Please avoid – smelly, noisy, overpriced, and unfriendly staff

1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 25, 2012
This is a relatively new resort located in a VERY busy area, on the main road full of street vendors and local shops. The street is dirty. The hotel claims to be 5 minutes from the beach. It is 10.

Pros

- Rooms are spacious. We paid for an upgrade to a room with bath tub in the balcony. Too bad we could never use it because the water system was faulty!!! (we DID NOT get a refund – they said it was an accident).
- Located right next to a mountain, so you can listen to animals during the night which is quite cool.
- Partial ocean views are nice.

Cons

- Value for money is NONE. There are many better options, so don’t be fooled.
- Breakfast is terrible.
- Staff is unreasonable and speaks little English.
- The toilet had a TERRIBLE smell and all management could do is give us a scented candle!!! They explained all rooms have the same problem due to the way the pipes are built.
- Area is super noisy, so be ready to listen to disco music in the middle of the night.

Overall, terrible stay! We moved to another hotel in the Railay area and found quality, warmth and much nicer people. Avoid this expensive place!!!

Antonio.

Me and my husband stayed here for 2 nights as part of our tour package. This is a newly constructed and a wonderful property. A very good location – very close to the pier from where you can take boats to visit nearby beaches, and even close to the market area – there are a lot of good eating joints near the place. The hotel staff is very courteous, and they arranged good tours for us. The rooms are very good, and the food is also nice, though a little pricey – but I guess that’s for all hotels in the category. Krabi is a beautiful place, and our experience was definitely enhanced by this stay.

The best of this hotel is view, booked the Deluxe Sea View where has a Jacuzzi in the balcony. Location is perfect, close to everything and set up in the urban area where the peaceful environment still maintain. 7-11 and McDonald is on your property. Restaurant was good, only Korean restaurant in town. Room is good decoration and facilities, very clean blanket and pillow provided for me. Breakfast is Ok, they have bacon in the buffet line which the most hotel not offer.

But the negative thing is wifi, only free wifi in lobby area, in room you have to pay THB 150 per stay. and if you stay in superior front room , be prepare to hear some noise of busy road and night club sometime. Overall, is good if you cook deluxe sea view room.

Room tip: Book Deluxe Sea View Room

We were certainly fortunate to select this Resort Hotel in Ao Nang . The Resort is New and the Design , Style. Location and Operation of the Resort is Defiinately first class . We were impressed by the efficiency and friendliness of all the staff . When we met Mike { The General Manager } we understood why this Resort runs so well . He is a hands on Manager who regularly greets guests at Breakfast and is always seen around the resort making sure everything is running smoothly . His Staff are excellent from The Kitchen to The Cleaning and Front Desk Staff .
The Resort has an excellent Outlook to The Sea and the Stunning Cliff at Ao Nang and is perfectly positioned on a sloping site . Modern Thai Design with an Elevator so the steps are not excessive . Pay a little extra for the Seaview and Cliff view rooms on the second and third floors .The Breakfast is of a very good standard and most Nationalities should be happy with the Quality of Food offered .
The Resort's Location is excellent for Dining and Shopping in Ao Nang . You can find a large variety of food from Mc Donalds , Starbucks , Thai Restaurants , Bars and street food within easy walking distance .
We are regular visitors to Thailand and after a week at Ao Nang Cliff Beach Resort we felt like we were part of their family . We are reluctant to post this review mainly because when we want to go back next year the Resort will be full .

Room tip: The Second and Third Floor Rooms with a Tub on The Balcony offer a Superb View of the Cliff and Bay

We booked this hotel at a very good rate, due to a deal through agoda. We were therefore extremely happy with the room and facilities (esp. the Cable TV - Olympics #Usainbolt)

If we had paid full price for our room I do think we might have found the hotel wouldn't have been good value for money.

The hotel itself is in a good location for shopping/restaurants/massages, the beach at Aonang is non existent at high tide and Rai lay is actually at least 30 minutes away by long boat. But worth it!!!

Breakfast's were buffet style, plentiful and mixed in choice.

The pool area was nice, but if the hotel is busy i would think that sun beds would be an issue to get.

We couldn't help but feel that the hotel didn't think about customer service when it came to organising transfers etc. They were extremely expensive when we were organising our transport from Phuket Airport to Aonang (double the price of the carrier we used) and then again when organising a short transfer to Krabbi Airport they were asking a lot 30% more than other companies! These are simple services that in terms of customer value leave a bad taste.

I don't think we will go back to Aonang, however if we did and their was a similar discount we would stay at this hotel again.

My wife and me stayed at Ao Nang cliff beach from 3rd sep to 7th sep. Our room number is 3317 sea-view delux

The Good:
1) beautiful sea view from our room
2) quiet
3) free dvd movie to watch
4) location is good for meal and some shopping
5) near to the beach
6) they provide a basket with picnic mat and slipper

The Bad:
1) stain on bed sheet
2) ants attack ( we were busy cleaning the room due to a lot of ants visiting us and even on the bed
3) super slow room service ( after 4 reminder till 4om they still failed to make up the room)
4) breakfast is normal so dont expect too much some dished are below par
5) shower heater broke down frequenty
6) no free wifi ( other cheaper hotels in the area are providing free wifi)

Overall this hotel with a 5 stars view doesnt translate them to be a 5 stars hotel, I give them 3 stars. Unlikely we will book this hotel again in the future. For those who is thinking to book this hotel. Do it if the price is good if you pay too much for it remember dont expect too much for them.

Cheers and enjoy your trip
