“Average Hotel”
Reviewed February 15, 2013 via mobile

Myself and my wife arrived at the Hotel at 13.00 and were told we had to wait for 1 and 1/2 hour which was so annoying .

when we got to room it had a funny smell like damp and old the whole hotel could do with a good deep clean and the rooms are tired looking with lots of chips on furniture ,The bed is on a large wooden table that take up 1/2 the floor space and I hit my shin of twice and also my toe ,the pain on my shin is still there ,

breakfast was very average but the one thing that really put me off was the smell that came from the drains outside every few minutes and not a nice smell while eating breakfast and also when waiting for taxi or standing in lobby that smell was there again I mean gut wrenching smell urgently needs to be sorted out .

reception staff were nice and most of them had a smile for us but some staff not very happy looking .

this hotel would suit very young couples on there first holiday

location is good .

would not stay here agin

We stayed and found it a great place. Good pool area with cool water. The most efficient air con of anywhere we stayed during our trip and it cooled the room quickly even after being off all day. A quiet location but easily walkable to the to the centre of the town. Staff were very friendly and helpful. They were happy to book us trips and taxis but shop around on prices, some deals to be had. The restaurant was big and the food was good. Lovely beaches a stroll away and plenty of choice for restaurants and street food. We loved the hotel and the area.

Room Tip: Quiet and easy to walk walk to beach and town. Very friendly and helpful staff.

I stayed in aree Tara resort for 4 days with my boyfriend. It was our first trip to krabi and the staff were very helpful/courteous. There was no wifi in the room (only in the lobby) but that only gave us more time to spend with each other without unwanted distractions. I requested for a pool view room though upon booking, asiaroom already stated that it would be a garden view room. The staff arranged a pool view room for us and it was so spacious! We didn't bring any luggage and for light travellers, this room is fantastic! They have a balcony with two chairs and a table, large enough for hanging laundry to dry and also sit down for a late night supper. Remember to bring insect repellent or mopiko though. I got a few bites but mopiko soothed them for me.

The bed is actually two beds joined together. It's great for us because my boyfriend turns around with great force but I'm unaffected because I'm on a separate bed! We booked a superior double room (with double bed).

The minibar isn't free though they give us complimentary 2 bottles of water each day when you ask your room to be made up.

There's a bathtub (for one) in the bathroom and a separate shower area. The shower heads are good and strong, ample hooks for towels drying, clean beige tiles and white toilet bowls with functional half/full flush.

This resort is beside Apasari resort and the swimming pool is shaded from the sun. I'll not recommend a pool-room because of lack of privacy. I got a room at 4th level and I enjoyed looking down to the pool in front of me but the space between the pool benches and my room will be too close for comfort.

I'll say that the hotel is located a short walk away from the ao nang central area w all the shops and cheap eateries/bars. We didnt bother timing our walk there but if you get tired from the walk, grab a tuk tuk back for only 20Baht/person; it'll be about 5mins drive.

Our room did not come with complimentary breakfast and we did not have any paid breakfast there too because we wanted to venture out and eat the local Thai food. It is 200baht for breakfast each day if you decide to join in.

The hotel provides a loaning of pool towels, not only for the pool in the hotel but also for you to bring it along to the beaches nearby! They sell a 1litre bottle of drinking water for 20baht as you grab a towel. They provide guests with massages by the pool too for 300baht. I personally went to aonang central area for a cheaper massage in a parlour for only 200baht. But of course, there isn't a pool view and ambience to beat.

On our first day, the staff explained to us that we could book a tour w them, rent a bike for 200baht/day, served us welcome drinks of apple juice, told us that wifi is available in the wifi, gave us a map, instructed us that when we exit aree tara and passed by apasari, buri tara and several other resorts, we can turn left to ao nang beach or turn right to noppharattha beach, showed us to our room and also explained how to use the in-room safe. Everything was taken care of and we were pleasantly surprised.

In conclusion, we were very pleased with our stay in aree Tara resort and will return again!

Good hotel in a good location a little bit away from the beach and the shops. The hotel was nice and clean and the breakfast was ok, but the pool area was a slight disappointment. It was wedged between the walls and always in shadow. Very good service though.

We stayed in Aree Tara for 3 nights in January. No frills, but considering the price(we got a deal at about 75 USD for a double room) the hotel is just great. It is rather far from the center of everything, but it is walking distance to the seaside and shopping aria. Walking is safe and enjoyable as you pass the shopes and c.t.r. Big plus is a couple of good restaurants nearby( we highly reccomend "Carnivoir" which is 5 minuts away, and a famous LeiLa is neaby). There are a few good massage places nearby. Staff is wonderful, always fiendly and smiling. We requested a quiet room on the top floor and they gave us exactly what we wanted! We had a forest view and that was great, so relaxing! Beware to get the room that faces the street, there the entrance to the hotel, this small street is quite ugly and smells unpleasant sometime. No additional charges.
It is not immaculately clean. In the first night we found a few ants in our bed, which was terrible, but fortunately they didn't come back. If you are ready to pay twice as much, you will definitely find a better location and a better view, as Ao Nang may offer great views! But if you are looking for a good value and comfotable stay, this is the best choice!

Room Tip: We had a forest view and that was great, so relaxing! Beware to get the room that faces the street...

The location of the hotel was good, little bit further away from all the traffic but still in walking distance from the beach. Rooms were quiet and very nice. The aircon worked very well! Service was good, we rented scooters from the hotel for couple days, it costed about the same as if we had rented from rental place. Breakfast was good and there were lot to eat. Only minus was that the staff took away our forks and knives too early every morning, as if they desided when we were ready! (You could get new ones only by asking.)

The pool was ok. Don't know if there is any sunlight during daytime (we were allways out of hotel during day). The pool is little bit smaller than the image you get from the pictures. We wouldn't want to stay in pool-access room. It's not so nice to sit on a balcony (terrace) and look other people swimming, especially when the pool area is that small.

Free wifi at the hotel lobby was a big plus!

We travelled as one family (three kids between 3-10 years) and one couple.

All in all this was a good hotel in a good location. Its at the end of the main road of shops but totally walkable and makes for a nice walk on an evening to find somewhere to eat.
Its about a 3 minute walk to the beach area where you get a long boat to go to the other beaches.
The hotel itself has friendly and helpful staff, a reasonable choice of foods for breakfast, nice, modern rooms and its clean.
Wouldnt hesitate to recommend.
