We stayed in the 2nd floor large room with bay windows overlooking the expansive front lawn. Large room, a tad frayed on the carpets and furniture but not at all bad. Only real downside to the room was the awful bathroom. The worst of that was the minature shower stall added in the corner akin to the type of showers found in downside roadside motels; it was tiny and certainly not befitting a house of this age and grandeur. A proper tiled shower could and should have been added. The floor and the walls of the bathroom was also quite sub-standard.
The staff were all quite nice, with our only problem a young woman (don't know her name, but she was not a ntive English speaker), who was incapable of opening my wine bottle at dinner, thus compelling me to do so, who answered my question of "how old is this house" with the vertatim answer of "I have no idea." who, when I asked for appropriate red wine glasses with dinner said they didn't have any (the next night, the male manager was present and quickly produced proper red wine glasses upon request).
While the place is out of Lincoln itself, its quite close and easy to navigate. The. The dinners and breakfasts were quite nice and served in a lovely room with lots of light overlooking the front lawn area.
The property is owned by a young family with 3 little girls and live in the back house on the property; you see them around every so often especially if the weather permits the girls to play on the lawn. These owners would be well served to actually get involved in the running of the property rather then stay aloof.
This is a uniqure circa 1740's property that is set for a remodel. I would return, but only after a substantial remodel to more adequately reflect the price charged. That said a nice place that is on a wonderful piece of land.
