“Unique Inn, with a great character, but could and should have been better”
Reviewed October 16, 2013

We stayed in the 2nd floor large room with bay windows overlooking the expansive front lawn. Large room, a tad frayed on the carpets and furniture but not at all bad. Only real downside to the room was the awful bathroom. The worst of that was the minature shower stall added in the corner akin to the type of showers found in downside roadside motels; it was tiny and certainly not befitting a house of this age and grandeur. A proper tiled shower could and should have been added. The floor and the walls of the bathroom was also quite sub-standard.

The staff were all quite nice, with our only problem a young woman (don't know her name, but she was not a ntive English speaker), who was incapable of opening my wine bottle at dinner, thus compelling me to do so, who answered my question of "how old is this house" with the vertatim answer of "I have no idea." who, when I asked for appropriate red wine glasses with dinner said they didn't have any (the next night, the male manager was present and quickly produced proper red wine glasses upon request).

While the place is out of Lincoln itself, its quite close and easy to navigate. The. The dinners and breakfasts were quite nice and served in a lovely room with lots of light overlooking the front lawn area.

The property is owned by a young family with 3 little girls and live in the back house on the property; you see them around every so often especially if the weather permits the girls to play on the lawn. These owners would be well served to actually get involved in the running of the property rather then stay aloof.

This is a uniqure circa 1740's property that is set for a remodel. I would return, but only after a substantial remodel to more adequately reflect the price charged. That said a nice place that is on a wonderful piece of land.

Room Tip: upper floor overlooking the lawn is the best.

Wow, what a contrary review that is! I suspect your dogmatic opinions upset people the world over.

Sunday 13th October
Thank you for the excellent food which was served with a warm welcome and a sincere smile.

Washingborough Hall staff are a delight. Well done all the back room staff, your attention to detail and presentation made our family meal a special occasion to remember.

From my elderly mother to my 3 Grandsons, we all enjoyed our Sunday lunch together and we will definitely be returning for more.

In my opinion this has to be the best restaurant in the Lincoln area (and I have tried most of them) and well worth the trip out to Washingborough.

Once again thank you and see you again soon

This was our first time we have stayed at Washingborough Hall and wont be our last!

I booked this hotel for myself and my girlfriend as a special treat as we both were graduating on 05/09/2013! I was in luck to find the more commercial hotels based in the center were all full and then came across this hotel! It was perfect, the only doubt I had was the distance from the town center but i hadn't to worry. It was less than a 10-15min drive and the taxi was only around £7. It is out of the way in the peaceful country side from the city center. We stayed in room 23, it was very clean. We love all the original features such as the corner wardrobe and doors.

Also we loved the homemade biscuits in our room and the L'occitane toiletries in the bathroom. The only improvement we could suggest is to change the shower and make it slightly more powerful!

All the staff were very helpful and the room service was reasonable. If we get time we do hope to return for the Christmas market this year! However we will be back at some point in the future.

Thankyou for a perfect stay!

Thank you very much for posting this kind review and congratulations on your recent graduation. The water pressure in the showers within the hotel is an issue which keeps rearing its head. Fortunately we have now devised a plan to improve them all and will be attending to this work over the winter months. We hope to maybe see you again before Christmas.

This is the second time this year we have held a family celebration at Washingborough Hall and once again it was faultless. Understated style and quality were the themes of March for our Christening lunch and yesterday when Lucy and her team did all they could to ensure my Father's 90th birthday party was perfect. Wonderful food, fabulous country house surroundings and attention to every small detail - even the gravel on the drive was raked! No-one could have done more to give 'the Birthday Boy' a day he will remember hopefully for many more years to come. Thank you to everyone for the exceptional all round service.

Situated slightly out of the main hustle and bustle of Lincoln this country house hotel is relaxing and its standards are high. If you want personal service and to be treated as a customer this has to be the place to stay in the Lincoln area.
The food and service is first class and nothing is too much trouble.
It is such a breath of fresh air to find someone locally setting new standards.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this establishment to those that want "just that bit extra".
