I went with a party of 16 to play four rounds of golf. The course was a disappointment. This was because all non par threes needed a 180 plus drive in the air to reach the fairway. If you were short the rough everywhere would swallow the ball. There was no first cut before the fairway started so balls were hard to find. The greens were moth eaten and would not hold a pitch on to the green, This made the golf less than a pleasure.
The rest of the experience was good it was just the course which was disappointing.

Just come back from a 2 night Golf break at St Saens the accomodation was first class, the food was good although the menu was the same both nights which was a dissapointment, the Golf course i thought was very poorly maintained,we have had a lot of rain but still buggies were allowed on the course the result was a very muddy course, the walk down the steep wet slope to the first fairway was lethel, the fairways were to far from the tees and the rough was to long, oncand the greens were very poor, once your ball was in the rough you were very lucky to find it again so lots of time spent in the wet long grass looking for your ball, didn't see a groundsman all weekend seems they just want your money,to sum up if they put buggy tracks in cut back the rough and increased the fairways and made the greens better this course would a joy to play as it has some very challenging holes and is in a great location.

Just got back from a golfbreak at the Chateau. We thought it was a great hotel for golfers and non golfers alike. Rooms in the main chateau and also in an annexe building. The annexe where we stayed was very comfortable and seemed newly refurbished. The hotel lacks facilities like a pool etc, but the golf course is excellent and the staff are friendly. The hotel manages to retain it Frenchness, too many "golf hotels" end up being "little england" being swamped by tourists, but that is not the case here.

Excellent food at dinner and a good breakfast, great value for money.

Just got back from short golf break at St Saens. What a find-we shall definitely return. We had a room in the chateaux, overlooking the first tee- huge ,recently refurbished with enormous comfortable bed and large bathroom. The golf course was challenging in places offering fantastic views of the chateau for the first 6 holes ,followed by holes through a forest opening out into a parkland setting, undulating but not too taxing a walk. The food was excellent - lunch and evening, prepare to loosen your belt a notch or two.We found the staff friendly and helpful. The hotel was full with a good atmosphere and mix of people from across europe, most of whom were returning having had such a good experience on previous visits.Excellent value for money

We booked this Chateau through Golf Breaks and could find no information about it at all on the internet. What a shame as it was a GREAT find! Here's the very first review.

A proper Chateau situated just outside the small attractive town of Saint Saens, surrounded by great scenery and the Eawy forest and only about 2 hours drive from Calais. The golf course was interesting to play and very green, a bit boggy on the first 5 holes which were below the chateau and a bit windy at the top but beautiful views and well kept.

The Chateau has 7 rooms inside which we looked at and were very large with high ceilings, had period character but were quite dated and in need of a style overhaul. We would have been a bit dissapointed to stay in these rooms.

We stayed in the newly developed rooms in another building to the side of the chateau. These were of a good sized 4 star standard, brand new, modern and stylish. The bathroom was excellent , the beds were massive and very comforatble, we had a super view and we were very impressed all round. There are 13 of these new rooms and some seems bigger than ours.

Our deal included dinner, bed and breakfast and golf and we thought it was good value for money. The breakfasts were self-service but really good with a wide range of choice. Dinners were outstanding and very gastronomic in style. We had four courses plus an appetizer in a beautifully decorated room overlooking the course.

Only thing that let down the hotel was the lack of guests and atmosphere and some of the staff were a little lacking in personality but perfectly polite.

I would really recommend a visit for a golf break and found it a bit heartbreaking that this fantiastic restaurant was empty when the standards were so good.
