Friendly, high quality, complete, great food, ambitious but not pretentious hotel.
Great view over Ortisei from all angles.

Can ski down to Sieser alm cabin today and from the Seiser Alm to the hotel from 2020.
While elevated from the crowd it is still conveniently located close enough to Ortisei center.

Great personnel with a personal touch.
Wellness area is very nice with great views as well.
Excellent cook and excellent masseuse!

The Alpenhotel Rainell is a very nice family-run hotel. We had a pleasant stay and the hotel is definitely worthy of consideration for your vacation plans. The hotel feels recently renovated and the new modern alpine decor retains warmth and comfort.

The location is very convenient. You can ski out of Ortisei from either side of the valley. The hotel is underneath the St Uhlrich/Seiser Alm gondola. You can pop on your skis and get right down to the gondola in minutes. This gondola takes you to Seiser Alm, which is the easier more family-friendly part of Val Gardena. It is a bit harder to get to the Seceda lift, which services the side that gets you to the harder runs and the rest of Val Gardena. You can ski down and walk across town or you can get a cab over to the Seceda lift. For the way home, there is really no way to ski back to the hotel. You can take a cab / city bus back from Seceda or you can take the hotel shuttle back from the Seiser Alm gondola. Theoretically you could walk back up from the Seiser Alm gondola, but with a pair of skis or two on you back, it is quite a hike.

We chose an Alpine Mini Suite for our family of four. The room was pleasantly decorated with a large bed for us, a small separate bed area for our oldest and a couch bed for our youngest. It was not a huge room, but we had enough space along with a beautiful view of the valley and town of Ortisei as well as a balcony to get some air. We were on the first floor, which was slightly noisy because the parking area is right in front of the hotel. An early morning trash truck wake up had us worried our first night, but after that it was fine. It's not really a problem, but I would recommend a higher floor. The bathroom was nothing special with basic tile and fixtures. However, the hotel's spa / wellness area is amazing, so we opted to see to our bathing needs there. The wellness facility is really on par with 5-star accommodations. There is a small, but beautiful outdoor pool that has stunning views of the town and peaks beyond. There is a modern sauna that has floor to ceiling windows. The facility also has a steam room, infrared spa, giant rain showers and a well designed relaxation room. It is a large area and beautifully designed. Two drawbacks: Firstly, the wellness area is only open from 3p to 7p, which is a bit odd. If you are skiing all day, this time makes perfect sense, but if you are taking a day off, it would be nice to have spa access before 3p (or after 7p if you wanted to go to dinner a bit later). Secondly, the spa area gets fairly crowded (at least in peak season). To be fair the wellness area is good size, but because it is so nice, everyone uses it (all in the 4 hour window it is open), so it gets busy.

The food at the hotel is very good. We had breakfast and dinner included with our room. Breakfast is a nice buffet spread with meats, cheeses, breads, cereals, etc. The chocolate croissant was heavenly. They make an excellent cappuccino and an even better hot chocolate. I would say that there are no kitchen options, so there are no omelettes / pancakes / french toast. However, we had no lack of food. Dinner is a four to five course affair and was very solid. The staff does a very good job. We had a long wait one evening due to a kitchen mix up, but other than that, the service was excellent. Mid-week they created a local specialty menu that was amazing. There were a few course during the week that were underwhelming: a dry beef dish, a goulash that was a bit grisly, but the delicious courses well outnumbered them. My favorite part was the desserts, which were beautifully presented and universally scrumptious.

The hotel staff is very friendly and welcoming and assisted us with all our needs. They did a great job. Overall the Hotel Rainell is a very solid choice for a beautiful, relaxing and delicious holiday.

We had a wonderful time during our stay at Alpenhotel Rainell. The hotel is situated high on a hill across the river from Ortisei city center. It's a short walk, maybe 10-15 minutes into town, but it is up a very large, steep hill so be wary if you have mobility issues. After trudging up the hill one night after dinner, we decided to drive to all of our subsequent dinners after that.

Views from the hotel are quite lovely. We ended up having a room at the back of the hotel, which I wasn't pleased with, and would have preferred a view overlooking the front of the hotel or the two sides, so you could watch the sun rise or set. I may recommend upgrading to ensure a room with a better view, if that's important to you. The rooms itself were simple and nice, with all necessary amenities. Breakfast in the morning was delicious, and every day after our hikes we loved using the pool and the spa (especially the infrared sauna). We both had very affordable (by USA standards) massages from the resident masseuse, who was wonderful.

We never ate dinner there so can't speak to quality, but they had an extensive ever-changing tasting menu for like 35 euro a night so very affordable.

All in all I'd definitely recommend!

Room tip: Request a room in the front or sides of the hotel, not the back if you want a view

Up the mountain side, overlooking Ortisei this hotel has a moderate # of rooms from which we had a superb view of the valley and surrounding mountains. The rooms are traditional chalet style but very nicely done. We had dinner at the restaurant twice and were pleasantly surprised twice. This hotel has a small heated indoor/outdoor pool, dry/steam saunas and a relaxation room you will want to spend an entire afternoon in.
Wifi everywhere. Indoor and covered parking. Mont Seuc funi is 7mns away by foot (if you take the shortcut), 15+ mns otherwise.
We really loved the place and would return.

Room tip: Rooms with views of the valley.
