“Lovely stay in a lovely place!”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

My daughter, living in Australia, wished to give me an experience for my birthday as I am grown up enough to have aquired most of the objects I need. After a stunning 3hr ferrytrip from start to end of Lysefjorden, where my son-in-law stood in awe of the mountains we passed, Kjell picked us up on the quay to save my pregnant daughter the walk up to his farm. Good service! Kjell made us feel welcome with an excellent cup of freshly brewed coffee before we got installed in nice, clean and airy rooms. He showed us the super bathroom facilities in the barn basement and lent us good bicycles for the ride down to the quay area where we bought a few vegetables for our grill-food dinner.
The "eldhus" (fire house) made a perfect setting for preparing our own food, brought from home. Kjell brought us the charcoals, we fired up and had a cozy, delicious meal! Kjell joined us for quiet chat over a glass of red before we cleared up and went to bed. We slept soundly, and Kjell rescued my hat, sweater and vest which I had left out in the night rain. Next morning, Kjell prepared a delicious breakfast buffet including homemade crispbread and their very own pickled herring salad before driving us down to the quay again to catch the ferry.
I said to Kjell: "You - pottering about your guests all the time, making sure they are comfortable makes a world of difference. You really made us feel welcome and at ease. Good man, Kjell - thank you!" ...and I really meant that.

Room Tip: Book early to reserve the largest rooms - this B&B is very busy all season!

We stayed here for one night on 11th July 2013 and we were not disappointed.
The location and hospitality is excellent. The breakfast was like home-from-home - personally prepared and delicious.
While the room was not en-suite the bathroom facilities in the barn were very good indeed.
This is a place where you can relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of such an idyllic location or prepare yourself for the hike to Kjeragbolten, or both of course!

My girlfriend and I stayed here in May 2012 for two nights while visiting Lysebotn. Kjell was VERY helpful in planning our trip around this location, helping with directions there, and very understanding of our limited communications on the days leading up to our stay. He welcomed us with a cup of tea and showed us around his house (which has been in his family for quite some time), and finally to our very comfortable and cozy room. The showers are in a separate building and very modern, with enough showers for three or four people at once.

In the morning we had some breakfast in his living room made of eggs and salmon, cheese, and homemade spreads. Do note however that there is very little in terms of food (at least there was in May) so arrive with some rations if you plan on having a picnic. For us, we brought smoked salmon from Bergen and so one evening we had ourselves what we consider one of the most relaxing dinners to date - in the front seat of our Skoda.

Admittedly, the price is a little high, but then again isn't everything in Norway? For us, this Bed and Breakfast was a very nice highlight of the trip.

We made the hike from Preikestolen-Bakken Gard-Lysebotn last summer, and booked one night at Lysegard BB (Hauane) to accomplish the Kjerag hike in the following day. We arrived with the first ferry in the morning. Found the house quite easily, and dropped off our bags. Kjell (the owner of the B&B) invited us to have a breakfast before leaving (in fact, we payed only for one night with one breakfast and that was in the following morning). So it became a very good 1st impression.

The house itself is very picturesque with mountains and super-green fields around. Comfortable, a true home away from home. The breakfast was really delicious and fairly enough for us, with eggs, salmon fillet, ham, cheese, vegetables, home-made cookies etc.

After finished our hike to Kjerag and back, we were just sitting in the garden relaxing, and enjoyed the peace with a cup of tea in our hands.

The price can be drawback for some, but it well worth every cent spent.
