About the facilities: New rooms, absolutely clean. Good room and bathroom dimensions. Well isolated, No noise problems (the outside is so quiet anyway...)

Owners: extremely nice, perfect welcome. Gishlene will give any advise you request (what or where to eat, what to see, etc)

Breakfast: Impressive! Bio products or from close farms. Everything tasted great.

Will be definitively stopping by again whenever crossing France...

Room Tip: I think they are all good....

We were a group of friends travelling to Cogny for a wedding. On our arrival (made all the easier by the inclusion of co-ordinaries for sat nav, not just an address) Ghislaine had already told us she would probably be out so left the keys for us. The gîte was immaculate with fresh flowers, well presented rooms, teas, coffee, biscuits. When Ghislaine arrived back we asked if anywhere would still be open for lunch and she offered to try and find a local restaurant. She returned shortly saying she had tried 8 places but they were all closed, so instead she had a basket of cheeses, meats, tomatoes, eggs which she had raided from her own cupboard and a complimentary bottle of wine. This is just one example of the many ways that Ghislaine is the perfect host.

We have always considered that the true measure of a business is the way it responds to a problem/complaint. On the 1st morning, we had 6 other friends due to join us for the wedding but during conversation with Ghislaine we realised that there had been a misunderstanding with the booking and Ghislaine only had 1 double room available. After a few seconds of mild panic, Ghislaine jumped into action "It's ok, I'll prepare the other gîte" so with 2 hours notice, she got alternative accommodation ready to the same high standard for our arriving friends with not the slightest fuss. A superb demonstration of how the customer is always right (although I must take some of the blame for the miscommunication) and our friends were none the wiser.
The biggest pluses- the beds are suburb, we all slept so well. The breakfasts are delightful and varied.

For those wanting Internet access, make sure you bring a laptop as there is limited 3G reception and no wifi which was a bit of a frustration for those wanting to access work emails........ But quite frankly if you are spending time at les Buis du Chardonnet you should be relaxing in the garden enjoying the view or relishing the hospitality and home made wine, not thinking of work!

This eco-gite/passivhaus is not just a great place for a relaxing holiday. Though I shall get this out of the way first. The hosts (Ghislaine, who is a fluent english speaker, and Michel) really know what a visitor wants. Ghislaine is good at responding to emails, establishing what you want from your holiday and giving some tips before arrival (like bring some walking boots!). When you are there, she knows just how to make you feel welcome, and enquire further on what you plan to do, and thus give you helpful recommendations. She does this with tact, charm but without making feel restricted/supervised. In other words you get the right balance between advising/welcoming and overbearing. I hope this makes sense? To give an example, on the morning of the first day (monday) there was a really nice loaf of bread, some jam, and fruit juice in the fridge so that we didn't have to rush out to buy things for breakfast. This was unexpected, but most welcome. Later that same day she popped over, and just chatted about things to see and do. Later, she returned with a note book with various pieces of advice, walks, days of markets, places to see and do. She even followed it up with a series of emails and links, particularly useful was the one about "Clochemerle". We didn't get to finish the book, so we have ordered our own copy... Anyway the gite is fantastic, really comfortable beds, and basically would sleep up to 8 guests in 4 bedrooms. Really high quality mattresses. There are two bathrooms, the downstairs is kitted out for wheelchair users and thus has an easy in/out shower. There is wired internet facilities; three wires are provided that fit into the respective sockets. TV is via satellite, and includes the French channels. There is a dvd player connected to the TV. Nearby there are several nice walks; the gite is located near Cogny, a small village in the Pierres d'orees part of Beaujolais. You can drive easily into Lyon, park at the P+R in Gare de Vaise, but you cannot buy a tourist pass at this station (shame). You basically buy a ticket into Lyon at Euro 1.60, which also opens the exit barrier when you exit. There are many places that are reasonably accessible from the gite, including Lyon (obviously) but also villages of Beaujolais and Burgundy, Villefranche, Bourg-en-Bresse; we also drove to Haute-Savoie. Geneva is about 1 hour 30 driving by motorway. Now the interesting bit. Michel is a weekend wine producer, but works in a building company. He designs eco-houses. He will let you know lots about the concept/design/eco-credentials about the "passiv-haus" concept. And he is a serious wine producer, making Cru Beaujolais (Brouilly) as well as tasty white Burgundy. In fact he seems to be serious in all that he does, including the maintenance of the property, the grounds, and most of all, his wine production....Visit the place. I'm sure you'll have a great time, just like we did.

Room Tip: Just let Ghislaine have your ideas for a holiday, and leave the rest up to her!

This is the PERFECT B&B in every way. The accommodation is luxurious, the view breathtaking, the location excellent, the breakfast outstanding and Ghislaine has thought of absolutely everything to make your stay enjoyable. Before we even arrived we had received very friendly emails from Ghislaine saying how much she was looking to meeting us (we were only staying 1 night) and asking if we would like her to book us into a restaurant for dinner. She had even gone to the trouble of finding English magazines for us in place of the usual french newspaper with breakfast. Ghislaine was so friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. Breakfast came complete with flowers and candles and more food than 2 of us could eat.

It is a little difficult to find but well worth the effort.

We have just returned from an amazing stay at Les Buit. The room was beautifully decorated, the terrace had a stunning view and the breakfast was sublime (home made jams, grape juice, pastries) and added Easter touches of chocolate eggs. Ghislaine was an amazing host, booking restaurants before our arrival and leaving coffee for us the day we checked out to enjoy after some stunning walks in the area. We also had the pleasure of doing some wine tasting and purchasing some to take home with us.

I don't know where to start because there were too many nice things about this place.
First of all, Ghielaine, I'm sorry to write this review only now. We had our trip back in October and we really appreciated your hospitality; your suggestion for our site seeing/outing plan; your time to explain everything about the site; your lovely breakfast; juice; fruits, the wine and even the muffin from your daughter. All in all, we loved it so much!

There are just too many nice things from this trip. First of all, we enjoyed sitting on the grass, enjoying our wine and the fantastic French mountain view. At night, the place is very peaceful and it was nice to look at the clear sky and stars from our bed.

Cogny is a very nice location where it is very closed to Lyon, and the Beaujolais wine route to explore different vinery and chateau in the region. We enjoyed our time a lot, from having a walk with the chateau owner (and actually she walked us to her Chateau) to having a bottle of wine and nice morning with a wine producer (Although our French are very bad, he was so kind to offer us wine and explained some many things about wine production).

Anyway, without the hospitality and warm welcome from Ghislaine, none of this is possible.
We are from Hong Kong, if we have time, we will definitely re-visit this place again!

Where to start...! I was part of a larger group of food and wine enthusiasts and stayed for a week. Our group coordinator worked with Ghislaine in creating a great itinerary. Cogny is a destination in and of itself. You could spend the whole week on the property and be quite content. The property is up to date and earth friendly in many aspects.
The activities that were added to the most amazing views of rolling hills and vineyards really made the trip special. The Fete des Crus was a festival taking place in nearby Fleurie celebrating the Crus of Beaujolais in which we all attended and enjoyed. Having a tour of a chateau in Bagnols, visiting an oil and vinegar shop, and various wine tastings (including the most wonderful of wine produced by the Perroud brothers) were all part of our original itinerary. Ghislaine had also arranged a tour of a snail farm, in addition to the original itinerary and last minute, which was quite informative and tasty! We also went to some markets filled with spectacular products that we used for lunches and dinners.
All of this was made possible by many people but, could not have been done without the hospitality of Ghislaine and Michel. It was an experience I will never forget and I would encourage you to stay and experience what is on offer at Les Buis du Chardonnet.
