We recently stayed at the Statham Lodge hotel as we were attending a family wedding reception there. On arrival the building and grounds looked beautiful. Our first impressions of the hotel were dashed though by the unfriendly faces on reception, although were checked in efficiently and told where to find our room and how to use the key etc... the woman behind reception looked as if she would rather be anywhere else in the world but there!
To get to our room we either had to go back outside and go through what looked like the back entrance to the kitchen or go to a staircase near the bar then go upstairs, and back down some other stairs to our room on the ground floor! We could access the same corridor later when the function room was open to go through.
Our room itself was quite small and although it looked as if the bathroom had been recently refurbished and the room had a lick of paint there was a funny smell in the room. We found the sparce tea and coffee making facilities in the bottom of the wardrobe. Why in the wardrobe I don't know? All in all I expected more for the price we payed for the room.
I will select excellent for the service for everything other than reception which lets the hotel down in my opinion.

On the plus side (there are some :0) .....the rest of the staff were friendly and the service staff during the reception were excellent, absolutley 1st class and the hotel had obviously made it as beautiful as possible for the wedding. The meal, buffet and breakfast food were all delicious. The large bar area and garden furniture were perfect places to sit and relax.

All in all I would not hesitate to return to the hotel for a meal, or even book a function if I lived in the area however for a £100 per night for the room I was a little dissapointed and probably wouldn't stay again.

The outside is quaint as well as the restaurant and bar. The hallways to rooms however have slightly smelly carpet. Our room stunk like old bleach. Bathrooms very worn like the rooms in general. The curtains were thin and didn't block the lights in the courtyard and the summer early morning sun. Nice breakfast though and easy walk to Lymm village.

I haven't been to the Statham lodge for many years, the thought of their freshly cooked breakfast drove me back this year. This hotel is unbeatable as a place to stay. Really nice rooms and modern bathrooms; great bar food in a comfortable lounge and best of all, it is in a park, so it's quiet and peaceful - easy to reach, too, just off the M6. I'll be back!

Stayed at Statham Lodge for a wedding. Lovely hotel with good staff. Early checkin wasn't an issue. Triple room a good size but little cramped with zed-bed in it but wouldn't it be in any room!

Lovely grounds. Food excellent - even got made my son a chocolate tart that wasn't on the wedding menu!

Needed an overnight stay to break our journey and this hotel fitted the bill perfectly. We had to check in very late but were made most welcome, the room was very comfortable and breakfast was cooked to order and excellent. We could find no fault with this excellent stay.

I stumbled on this Hotel when working in nearby Widnes. It's so good i've booked in again next week. This is such a high standard accommodation for the price (average £30 per night including breakfast!!!).
So what do you get at Statham Lodge - a lovely warm welcome, a room well furnished and large with a large en-suite. Very comfy 3/4 bed (single room), high standard of decoration, free high speed wi-fi that really works, free car-park and a lovely restaurant ( a bit pricey at about £15 to £20 for starter/main and soft-drink, but well worth it in terms of quality). Such a real pleasure to stay there. The staff were so helpful and friendly at all times. If you are in the area, stay there. www.statham-lodge.co.uk (check it out).
