“40th Sunday lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2014 via mobile

Have eaten at bowdens before but never on a Sunday .... Booked for 12 as a 40th birthday lunch with family. We had a lovely time - food was plentiful (my 6 yr old was offered more roast beef which he happily accepted :-) service great and the staff happily lit the candles on the cake for us to sing "happy birthday". We had a great time and will definitely return!!

“Lovely ambience and delicious food, all at a price that won't break the bank..”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2014

If you are looking for somewhere a little special - at a price that won't break the bank, you must give the bistro restaurant a try! The main menu is complimented with daily specials and a fixed price menu - so I would imagine most people would be happy with the choice on offer. The atmosphere is lovely - and the staff really are very friendly and helpful. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of steak, but I do like the fillet here - it is always cooked perfectly and tastes amazing. I have mine plain, but if you like your sauces you will be impressed I'm sure. I like to come here for special occasions or if I'm treating friends or clients from out of the area. I know we will always get a fabulous welcome and that the food will be great.

The tapas balcony is perhaps one of Lymm's best kept secrets. It has a unique atmosphere and ambience of its own and is always good - but it's even better when the place is busy and lively. The menu is quite varied - perhaps more geared up for meat and fish eaters - but the portions are generous and tasty. I eat here a couple of times a month and love it - such good value. Not sure if I'm supposed to say, but as I'm cutting back on meat a little - they do let me order the Camembert from the main menu here and it is exceptional!

On a final note, the wine list is pretty good - but the Regent Lager is very decent indeed and one of my favourite pints in the village.

“Average, average, average and .......average”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2013 via mobile

Old fashioned menu which would be fine if it were cooked and presented well. All the usual mistakes from an average restaurant. Overcooked steak, gelatinous sauces and lack of true distinct flavoirs. Not terrible, decent ingredients and still edible but just average not special. Shame ; (

“Good tapas, nice ambience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 30, 2013

First visit to the tapas bar, enjoyed the food, excellent service, great ambience, Spanish mood music added to the experience. The Tapas Bar is separated from the main restaurant and located on the lower ground floor and feels like a real tapas bar and not just a tapas menu in a restaurant. Food was well cooked, tasty and very good tapas selection.
