“Barton Bank Cottage”
Reviewed July 12, 2013 for a stay in June 2013

Barton Bank Cottage is a beautiful cottage located to the rear of the owners main residence. Not that you would think this once you are in and around the cottage though, as you are given a great deal of privacy by the natural separation between house and cottage.

The cottage faces out onto their paddock and you are regularly greeted by the owners horses who graze there a couple of times a day. To the side is a decked area and this includes a dining table and barbeque. Our trip was complemented by excellent weather and it was lovely to sit out there in the afternoon / evening.

Inside, the cottage is tastefully decorated and comprises of a modest kitchen (the local pub served excellent food and the deck has a barbeque so we didn’t use the kitchen a great deal), and an open plan living area with log fire and four-posted bed. A well-proportioned bathroom is also provided, complete with a large roll top bath.

The cottage is well located for exploring the local countryside and amenities. Graham and Chris are very helpful and could not have been better hosts. A really relaxing and enjoyable break at an excellent price.

Stayed for 3 nights and found the accommodation to be excellent standard with everything you could need provided for.
Hosts Graham and Chris are very friendly and welcoming.
I would thoroughly recommend staying at Barton Bank for a relaxing time.
Local restaurant bar Cock o Barton well worth a visit with very friendly and professional staff.

“Becoming part of the country - in comfort”
Reviewed January 20, 2013 for a stay in November 2012

Barton Bank was a wonderful and romantic immersion into the country - but with every comfort to sooth the soul.
Hosts Graham and Chris gave us a wonderful welcome and showed us the way down to the charming converted stable that would be our home for the weekend.
The cottage is privacy itself, only down a short path from the main house but looking away from it, out over the horse's paddock and beyond over the Cheshire countryside.
Inside the crackling log burner which greeted us was so welcoming and Graham's two-minute fire-starting lesson made sure we had a roaring fire going all weekend. The heaters and heated towel rail softened the chill when we first arrived back too, so the winter never got in.
The cosy cottage is quaint and romantic, with it's four-posted bed the impressive centrepiece.
The main room feels like your very own slice of country luxury, and when you go into the bathroom the wonderful roll-top bat only furthers that theme.
There were also a host of little touches which made a real difference and showed the kind of personal touch lacking in so many places: DVDs to watch, free WiFi, fresh milk in the fridge, and lovely toiletries in the bathroom.
The kitchen, which comes stocked with the basics in the fridge and a lovely continental breakfast, is perfect for rustling up a hearty meal. But we treated ourselves one night and wandered the couple of hundred metres over to the charming Cock O'Barton.
The historic watering hole offers a wide menu which is a few cuts above pub grub and well worth the indulgence.
Once back at home, sinking into the four poster was the perfect end to the day, in the kind of dark you only get in the real countryside.
Thanks Graham and Chris - you have a really special little place there!

“Perfect cosy cottage”
Reviewed December 30, 2012 for a stay in December 2012

Such a cosy, clean, charming little place. Open plan, perfect for 2. My partner and I came here for a birthday break and found everything to our liking. The open plan converted stable was stylishly done and the log burner, four poster bed and roll top bath made it extra special.
Chris and Graham were the perfect hosts, the log burner was roaring already on arrival, and fairy lights around the bed were a lovely touch for Christmas. Even after our stay, their kindness extended to returning my mittens to me via post after I had dropped them out of the car in the garden.
Set away from the house, at the bottom of the garden, there was plenty of privacy and quiet. This cottage is truly special and we had a wonderful stay.
Having looked for reviews for this cottage prior to booking, I had assumed it was relatively new due to the lack of web comments. However, the guest book in the cottage begs to differ! It's a real shame not more of those comments are available to be seen before booking!
