“Fantastic value for money”
Reviewed March 24, 2014

The Falcon is absolutely fantastic value for money. There is a warm welcome when you arrive, then shown up to your room. The room is comfortable and clean, the bathroom is spacious and clean. There are tea and coffee making facilities, space to hang your clothes and a TV loaded with channels. Breakfast is as large or small as you want and nothing is too much trouble. The staff are friendly and welcoming and all in all we had a fantastic stay. We stayed on a Friday night and karaoke was on which was very entertaining.

The bar is very well stocked with a selection of beers and lagers, including premium lager. However, if you wish to venture further afield, the High Street is literally moments away. We did try a couple of other places that evening but ended up back at The Falcon as it was the best in our opinion.

We also had an evening meal at The Falcon and it was fabulous, cooked beautifully. We were given a 10% discount as we were staying there that we would not have known about, but the lady in charge insisted that we were given it. All in all our stay was great and we will certainly be back. Just as a small note of warning for some, our room was directly over the bar area and we could hear music when we went to bed, although we were not bothered by this at all. If you are after a perfectly quiet night, request a room away from the bar area.

Thank you to all the staff who together made our stay very welcoming and enjoyable, as we are planning to return to Peterborough on a semi regular basis, we shall certainly be booking again.

Room Tip: We were directly over the bar and could hear some noise, so if this would bother you, ask for a room...

I had my anniversary party at the Falcon and stayed over in the family room. The venue was perfect and Colin and Michelle couldn't do enough for us, food was excellent as was the night. Really enjoyed it. Our bedroom was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was also really good! Had a great time here recommend it!

Room Tip: Family room has loads of room!

Bought a Groupon 3 course meal deal here. All the diners seemed to be there on the Groupon deal.
There was a choice of 4 starters, 4 deserts and around half a dozen main courses. All portions seemed to on the rather small side. I had steak and it was very thin indeed. Having said that, what we had was nice. I never normally have room for 3 courses but on this occasion I was still a bit hungry when we had finished.
Worth what we paid but would never eat there at the full price.
Also there was a party going in in their function room and it was very loud and intrusive.

The property is very tired and needs a complete revamp. Room was large and clean. It was up several flights of small stairs but we were not offered assistance with our cases although there were several people hanging around the reception. Bed comfortable and had a good night sleep on the Sunday. Food good but restaurant lacks the character I expected. Staff friendly. On our return to the hotel after a day out on the Monday we found our toiletries had been moved so that the bathroom window could be painted. A sign "Wet Paint" was left on the window ledge. As we were checking out the following morning I can't understand why it couldn't have waited until the room was empty. At 8pm on the Monday night a band started practising in the room below us (Yes! I wish I had read the review from another traveller below!) It was deafening and they sang the same song over and over. After an hour we complained and said we were leaving. At this point the owner told the band to stop playing for the night- they had been due to play until 11pm. It appears that there are a lot of entertainment held in this pub - bands, karaoke etc. and yet nothing is mentioned on their web site. They advertise "a traditional olde English coaching Inn" which gave me the impression of character and peace. They need to say exactly what happens at the pub so there are no surprises! We were told that next time we stay at the pub we need to ask for a quieter room at the back. Sorry Falcon hotel we will NOT be staying here ever again!!

Room Tip: If you have to stay here ask if they have entertainment on that night. If so you need to ask for a q...

We booked a groupon meal for the Falcon, but clearly we wished we had stayed at home. On entering the bar we felt we had 3 heads and clearly did not fit in. We asked for the wine list, not a massive amount of choice and asked for a different wine which they did have, so semi good start. We felt very uncomfortable and clearly overdressed. The Falcon is in need of a major re-vamp, the look and feel is like being thrown back into the 80`s. On entering nans living room OOps sorry the dining room there was 3 other tables that all stopped their conversations to stare at us and the silence was awful. The decor, poorly hung outdated curtains, very bright lighting, boring old wallpaper, old fashion table and chairs, paper napkins just no ambience. Food was also very 80`s, prawn cocktail was warm, salmon very overcooked and in a watery sauce, tiny lamb steak, bizzare pasta dish, half cooked chips in a very large pasta bowl. The best part was dessert, although clearly brought in as one of the puddings still had some of the plastic wrapper on, and the waiter even went to say when we couldnt decide on dessert, chose another one as it was easier to get out of the packet !!!! and Peter L yes we said exactly the same thing ~ Faulty Towers !! We were waiting to for Basil to serve us !!!! Pleasant staff though, just needs a complete overhaul.

We booked a small room for a family party of 14 people. The room was organized with 4 tables and 4 chairs. The tables had white table cloths with candles. Wine glasses were laid out on the small bar and ready for the wine which we had ordered. On arrival the guests had a choice of wine, beer or spirits. We had a buffet ,later in the evening and it was excellent
The staff worked really hard to make this a success and nothing was too much trouble.
We recommend this hotel for any parties, functions etc. The warmth, friendliness and excellent service made this a memorable evening
Thanks to everyone involved.

Room Tip: We did not stay overnight

Booked an evening 3 course meal with friends under a Groupon offer.
The four of us were "fitted in" but the large dining room was empty when we arrived during early evening before being joined by another table of 4 about an hour later.
The waitress was very welcoming as was the bar staff and the two locals having a meal in the bar area had some good banter as well.
Good menu choice and no complaints about the choices made and the quality or quantity of food The waitress met our requests with no issues and was happy to run to the bar to keep our drink glasses replenished.
Dining room was a little cold and no heat coming from radiators.
The car park was rather full when we arrived but the pub seemed empty so assumed that guests were in their rooms or residents of nearby houses were using it.
It also appears that one of the large rooms was being used for line dancing classes and the car could easily have been trapped in the car park due to some inconsiderate parking by some patrons, so just a word of caution here.
Some skilful manoeuvring obviated the necessity to track down the car owners!!!!

Room Tip: Enjoyed the food and friendly staff.
