“Weekend stay with seaside views”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2013

After 2 hours from Cebu of competing with buses, two wheel motorised transport, jeepnays and tricyles, we finally arrived at the relaxing Dakong Bato Resort where the balcony of our clean and spacious room overlooked the sea in the distance, and the gardens and pools below. Room rates are as given on their webpage, no more than stated, and very reasonable. The resort, by its very name, is not 5 star, but it's comfortable and offers different levels to wander around, sit and relax, 2 different swimming pools, a small water slide and access with steps to beach water albeit without a sand presence. We chose not to eat the evening buffet, but instead drove to the local market to buy fish and meat which was barbecued for us by a resort staff member and eaten alongside the pool under a thatched cottage roof with the sea breeze. Free karaoke at the next pool was a noisy distraction. Breakfast was simple. Overall, it was a welcoming stay and is obviously a sought after hotel site for friends, colleagues and team building groups to visit and spend a day, enjoy food and swim in the resort's waters.

The location is great because it is along the road, very easy for the guests to come. We stayed there for one night together with my husband's officates. I was so surprised with their room because it was really big and very spacious which is good for families and barkadahan outings. Their beds are big and staffs are very warm and accomodating. I like the room I occupied because the terrace was overlooking the pool in which I can just watch my kids in the terrace while they were swimming. They also have a kios for day use visitors and a karaoke for sing-along lovers. Kayaking and jetski was so cheap and very affordable also, no reason not to try those stuffs. They also have a buffet at night for a very reasonable price. I reall like this place beacuse you can choose were to swim whether on swimming pool or beach which is just beside the pool. Their infinity pool is a perfect location for a nice camera capture. Highly recommended for all, I really want to go back at Dakong Bato again.

Room Tip: All rooms are good

Stayed in DBBR for 2 nights . We were going to Oslob to see the famous Butanding(Whale Shark ) and it is better to see them early in the morning. The resort is located along the highway with their own parking lot and security guards 24 hours. most of the rooms has a breathtaking view of the ocean.Don't miss watching early morning sunrise.Rooms have their own air conditioning units with free WI FI.There is a restaurant in the premises.
the only negative is that there is no beach( as the resort is built on a cliff) and one has to do a lot of climbing (up and down) to go to the pool. But it will not be a problem on "younger"travelers.

Room Tip: Choose a room with ocean view.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Located at the southern part of Cebu specifically at the municipality of Dalaguete in Barangay Coro, guests of Dakong Bato Beach and Leisure Resort are assured of no problem finding it as this has been used as a marker to signify entry into the said municipality. "Dakong Bato" translates to Big Rock in the English language. Once you will see the landmark just before you enter the resort's gate, you will instantly understand why such the name... For it literally is what it means. Dakong Bato and Leisure Resort offers fully-air conditioned rooms each with its own private bathroom, equipped with TV and DVD. Rooms can accommodate 2-10 people depending upon its size, whether for couples, families or barkadas. There are specially-designed rooms for workshops and teambuildings as well. Always out to give the best, quality service, this beach and leisure resort comes with free WiFi access to its guests and visitors. Cottages are available for guests who want to spend the day cooling themselves at the beach or taking a dip at its child-friendly spring water pool. The latter, by the way, comes with a slide and a jacuzzi that's perfect for instant relaxation via massage with warm waters. Manicured lawns adorn the whole resort resulting into a lot of nature green color meant to soothe and calm one's soul. For guests on their teambuilding, an array of activities await in line: For the sports buff, the basketball court and water volleyball at the pool are sure to give you good sweating and exercise. For the more adventurous spirit, there are rubber kayaks and dingy boats for rent and a cave adventure adds a cool twist to the otherwise laid-back atmosphere. Apart from this though, what also makes Dakong Bato Beach and Leisure Resort famous is its association to the Visayan folkore which tells the story of "Maria Cacao", the half immortal who made the huge stone the docking place of her golden ship which carried the cacao she sold to Manila and outside countries. Such is the reason why it is said that even if it has been many centuries already, the marker is said to be "immovable" and still literally growing. ... more   less
