The guide books and tourist information are a bit confusing. Wendake is a small town where modern day Indians now live. The streets are named after chiefs. There is a restaurant in town, Sagamite, that many have recommended and we definitely warn you to stay away (we had major indigestion after a very mediocre meal). There are two tourist attractions. One is the Museum/Hotel. The museum in very interesting and worth a short visit. The hotel looks beautiful and has a lovely restaurant, which is where we “wish we had eaten”.
The second attraction (a short drive was through a nice residential neighborhood and in the midst of an industrial park) is the Huron Village. The pictures on the website talked about shows but there were none. The “recreated” village was interesting to see and walk around but again, a very short visit.
