Hang a right just off the ring road near Ross and head down to Hoarwithy. Red Rail is just past the village sign. We knew before we had parked the car this was going to be something special... A knight in armour and a BBC dalek ( a gold one indeed) to name but two of the wonderful finishing touches here in deepest Herefordshire.

Our room was called Poppy named after a horse that was once stabled there in the barn. It was light, fresh and contemporary with a fabulous en suite. The view from our window was tranquil, verdant and interrrupted only by birdsong and the occasional hen wishing us good morning.

Breakfasts were taken in the conservatory overlooking the garden and made to order. Fresh fruit, cereals, warm pastries, home made bread and locally sourced bacon and sausages all accompanied by fresly made coffee in a cafetiere or tea in a pretty pot.

Andy and Steph have thought of everything necessary to make your stay welcoming and deserve the highest of accolades for their attention to detail. The weather was glorious and as one sat on the upper terrace outside our room with mugs of coffee and choccy bicks all seemed well with the world....

Room Tip: No tips. The rooms are lovely.

We stayed in the Alice room for three nights in April. We received a warm welcome from Andy & Steph. Their home is stunning and our room didn't disappoint: very clean, very stylish and very comfortable with a wonderful walk in shower room.
Breakfast each morning was beautifully cooked and we loved the views of fields and horses from our room and the breakfast room. We also liked the separate entrance to the guest rooms so we didn't have to disturb our hosts.
Really peaceful (especially as there is virtually no mobile signal and wi-fi is patchy!). Great if you want to escape from it all.
Nearby, there is lots to see and do, and good pubs to eat in. Andy & Steph recommended the Moody Cow and Lough Pool Inn, and both provided really good food.
This is a fantastic place to stay - do stay here if you can.

We have just had a fabulous 2 night break at Red Rail Farm and it was wonderful. Beautiful rooms and very clean. The farm house is to die for with fabulous grounds. Steph and Andy were the ideal hosts, extremely welcoming and the breakfast was divine! We didn't want to leave. Walter the horse was lovely. Thank you Steph and Andy for making our weekend very special.

Room Tip: Just depends whether you like a bath or a shower!

We booked our room at Red Rail on the recommendation of another B&B and are very happy we did. As cyclists going to a wedding in the village we were perfectly accommodated for. Breakfasts were lovely, service was friendly and genuine, our rooms were spotless and we had a perfect first weekend away from our young family. The decor in the kitchen can not go without mention as they have an actual BBC ex set Dr Who Dalek in the sitting area next to half a Mini Cooper coming out of the wall. Fantastically eccentric and stylish just like our wonderful hosts. Brilliant weekend and highly recommended!

We have just had a two day break at Red Rail Farm and the rooms were spotlessly clean as was the rest of the farmhouse, Stephanie & Andy were excellent hosts and the breakfast was one of the best with plenty of choice which is served in the garden room with a wonderful view, we shall certainly be returning when we next visit the area, peaceful location.

We arrived at Red Rail with great expectations due to the high praise it had received from a number of other reviewers. We were not disappointed in the slightest.

Steph and Andy (the owners) could not be more helpful or accommodating, at every turn they were asking us if there was anything else that they could do for us or if we needed anything. Unfortunately we were only staying for two nights.

We stayed in "Alice" one of their two rooms. Beautifully decorated with a superb en suite. Breakfast was a real treat with lots to eat and even after a sumptuous Full English we were offered pastries.

Would advise the Wye Valley Real Ales found in the New Harp Inn in the village and the only negative (if you can call it that) is that mobile phone reception is hard to find, on O2 anyway.
