This is a lovely colonial style resort! We stayed for 3 days and 2 nights which was just about right to spend in Cameron Highlands. The manager came to reception to greet us when we arrived to ensure that all our requirements had been met for our stay. One big plus point was the staff who were all extremely friendly and ready with a big smile. We enjoyed the cosy atmosphere with big armchairs to lounge about in and fireplaces with real fires burning at night. The huge four poster bed was a delight- one of the best night's sleep I've ever had. The bathroom is on the small side but otherwise all right. The only downside was that the rooms all face the main road. Even with all the windows and the door to the balcony closed, I could still hear the cars, although it was not very loud. I was just slightly bothered and my husband not at all so it depends on the individual. Perhaps if they double glaze the windows, it would be better.
All in all, a highly comfortable and enjoyable stay.

This is definitely the best hotel in Cameron Highlands and most probably the most expensive as well. The hotel is very beautiful, with colonial charm, the cold weather and the pine trees bring you closer to some city in Europe instead of M'sia.

No major complaints about the room and the hotel as I didnt experience any noise issues. However, the service was rather cold for a "5-star" hotel.

No warm smiles when we approached the concierge for help. Just a clinical nod and some-what snooty attitude when we asked about local services such as taxi and location of near-by restaurants. This rather cold service and attitude was observed through out my 2 nights stay.

Compared to other 5 star resorts in other neighbouring countries in south East Asia. This was definitely one of the poorest.

  • Liked — Colonial charm and beautiful room
  • Disliked — service can be improved. It was cold and rather snooty

Cameron Highlands Resort is the best hotel to stay at in Cameron Highlands. It has a lovely colonial feel and wonderful staff.

The highlight of our stay was a guided trek through the tropical rainforest with the resident naturalist at the hotel. Shahril was incredibly knowledgeable and patient and we spent an enjoyable three hours walking through the rainforest with him. I would highly recommend doing a guided walk if you have the time.

The spa at the resort is surprisingly good as well and if you are looking for a relaxing treatment, this is the place for you.

All in all, my husband and I had a wonderful time and we focused on the simple pleasures of life in reading, walking and eating. As Camerons is not overly commercialised, we found this meant that we could relax away from the stress and pace of modern metropolitan life.

  • Liked — Colonial furniture and good food
  • Disliked — Slightly run down bathrooms and poor window insulation from traffic noise

We know better now than to drive up to CH on a weekend. We were stuck bumper to bumper for close to an hour from the stretch of road approaching Equatorial Hotel.

But the ordeal ended the moment we reached CHR and were informed that we've been upgraded from a 2 room suite to the Cameron Suite. The suite was tucked right at one end of the resort, just a short flight of steps away from the gym and the Spa Village.

We were waiting patiently in the room for our luggage to be sent up only to find that they have been misplaced and the porters had to backtrack their steps to locate the missing baggage. It was really a test of our patience!

To sum up our stay....

Downside:
1. Missing luggage and apart from being very apologetic, the guest service personnel asked what they could do to reverse the damage (personally, I don't expect to be asked but rather for them to offer on their own accord). Our reply was "No worries!"

2. Rather poor dining options - all set menu and the ala carte selections comprise only of steak, chicken shop, fish & chips & spaghetti bolognese. Definitely not a gastronomic trail ....

3. No room service.

Plus points:
1. Very friendly housekeeping staff and resort manager, Ben Quah.

2. The turndown service was the highlight of our stay - all towels replaced, and the glass of ginormous strawberries with chocolate dip (they were so good that they missed getting snapped and yes, we got second helping!) Great housekeeping crew!

3. Spa Village...always a pleasure.

The staff are wonderful, the hotel is beautiful and the nicest by far in the area, but the proximity to the road is a problem.
If they could insulate the doors on the balconys of the rooms better then it would not be so bad. The noise from the road can be heard from early morning.
The rooms are lovely and having been to stay last year in the Lakehouse I would rate the Cameron Highlands Resort a 4 star and the Lakehouse 1 star.
The food is very good and the serving staff all very helpful and friendly. You cannot find a better standard hotel in the Cameron Highlands.
The Boh Tea plantation at Sungei Pallas is disappointing. The tea factory is worth the visit, but the coffee shop and public bathrooms are a disgrace. Not what you would expect of a brand like Boh that would like to be compared to BMW according to its CEO Caroline Russell in the most recent Peak magazine.
