“The most luxurious hotel at Cameron Highlands”
Reviewed June 26, 2012

We arrived at the hotel approximately 3pm and the rooms we booked were not ready. Thus, the friendly staff offered us free afternoon tea. We went in a family of 8 members. We enjoyed the complimentary afternoon tea while we explored the hotel facilities. The rooms were cosy but we did find some stains on the bedsheets. The breakfast served was decent but I would expect more from a hotel their standard. Nevertheless, we did enjoy our stay and will consider staying here again if we return to Cameron highlands.

p/s: the front desk staff was very friendly to provide us a map to point out the interesting tourist attractions at Cameron highlands

Staff are very helpful and sincere. Hotel was clean but a little dripping in the washroom. However, it's the extra little things that we didn't find anywhere else that made our stay here special. They made the effort of giving us thank you card (with my name on it) for staying with them. Attached to the card was a rose. How nice!

Great colonial ambiance. We enjoyed relaxing by the fire place.

Room Tip: It's a small hotel. All rooms would be facing the main road. Seek the management advice for room...

We were really looking forward to visiting this hotel as we had heard so much about it, we certainly can;t complain about the room standard as it was to a high standard (although it could have been better cleaned) wher we found the problem was for us was the staff some not all could have done with putting a smile on their face it was as if they had a reputation so they did not have to try to hard so for us the place was very flat and yes slightly unwelcoming we would certainly not go back although the breakfast was very good.

Room Tip: try it for yourselves as our experience was not very good

Why did I choose Cameron Highlands Resort to stay this time ? Since I read from the hotel's introduction that it is one of the six best highland resorts in the world. It turns out that it is a bit disappointed. When we first arrived, the front desk lady greeted us, her look is quite solemn, wearing a white uniform, she really looks like the nurses working in the government hospital ( long time ago ). When I asked her to check the bus going back to Penang, I don't know how to describe her look, just not too friendly. Other staff are okay. About the room, the single bed is too small, may be only three feet wide, and the bath room is too small too. It is good if it charges MD400 instead of MD600 per night. The breakfast is simple, I don't mind there are not too many choices, but I would enjoy more to eat banana pancake in a three stars hotel in India, than the fresh strawberry pancake in Cameron Highlands Resort.

The service staff are very welcoming and warm. You see smiles along your stride around the resort. Breakfast was fantastic, the 24hr gym and the children playroom is a great thing to have. The reception service staff was more than willing to be at your service. I would say the money you pay is reciprocated with the service and stay you get. My family and i had a great time there.

Upon check in we had some minor problems with the room allocation. This was immediately corrected and we were upgraded to a junior suite. The staff of the hotel was immaculate, super friendly and nothing was too much to help and advise us. Breakfast was fantastic - Mr Rachmat the F&B Mgr was taking great care of us and other guests. The bell boys, the receptionist, the maintenance people, all of them went the extra mile. We were simply stunned about how the four of us were treated. So good. This hotel gets an excellent rating because of its staff only.

Things to know about the location: busy road - noise gets into the rooms and this can be annoying during the night. As such you can't open the balcony door and let the fresh air in (hotel has no aircon in the rooms).
YTL should invest in better room isolation (double glass windows).
Internet access technology is not at the level you expect from a five star. Bathrooms need some upgrade too. Aircon or more ceiling fans should be installed.
Avoid the rooms above the kitchen (you will sleep on top of lots of cooking gas bottles)
YTL will charge your credit card for 100% of the stay when booking and in case of cancellation the will only reimburse you 2 weeks later. Read carefully their 100% deposit and cancellation policy.

Room Tip: avoid the rooms above the kitchen - I believe room 33.

Just spent 3 days at this lovely hotel. The ambience was very relaxing and the rooms were delightful. The staff were absolutely amazing - couldn't do enough for us - and the hotel food was delicious. The only downside was the noise from the road. What a pity they didn't put in double glazing when they did the upgrade! Having said that as long as you're aware of it don't let it put you off what is a really classy hotel.

Room Tip: If you can stay away from the road!
