“A green oasis in a sea of development”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

Brought my family for a trip to Cameron Highlands on July 25-27th. Was seeking some greenery and fresh air which is actually rather hard to come by in Cameron Highlands due to rampant and uncontrolled development. This guest house was absolutely great to stay in. Great views from the room with a balcony, lots of trees and lots of wildlife. will definitely come back one day.

I'm a frequent traveler to Cameron Highlands for the past 20 years and my recent trip was very appealing. My family stayed here for 3 Nights and I bet that we are going there again . It was just next to nature and the place is very pleasing. We spend quality times sitting around bonfire, get to know other travelers, jungle trekking and family barbecue party. Credit goes to Krish who manages the place, he is very attentive and down to earth person( a well known local Cameronian)
Soon you will enjoy the bamboo bar( one of a kind,MUST Feel) and live karaoke band . Let's party in the jungle soon !

Room Tip: Bamboo Hut Rooms, Don't miss it !

I stayed here for two nights. a good location just a 10minute walk outside Tanah Rata in an old colonial bungalow.

Works are still ongoing, facilities basic but that's not the point of this place. The chalets are really well designed and comfortable. The bonfire each night was a great way to chat with other travellers and also with Krish who is very committed to the De'Native Family! He is a great guy, who will help you in your trekking planning and in any ongoing transport. Very generous with lifts to the town, and always free for a chat. He's the man!
Thanks again Krish.

We stayed only a night but it was amazing. Krish (the host) was very welcoming host. We had nice chats with Kris and Bobby (his friend) by the bonfire until very late.. then we sang karaoke till very late. nx day we got up early to see the biggest flower in the world rafflesia arnoldii.. the trip was amazing and Kris advice us alot of Dos n Don'ts.. It was one of the best experiences I've ever had..And looking forward to go back there definitely

Our 4 days there was really enjoyable. From the time we arrived till it was time to leave, we felt at home. Krish (the host) and his crew were warm and welcoming. He never failed to tend to the need of his guests. This included driving guests around, fetching fresh sheets, recommending the best places in town as well as a nice drink under the starlit sky. Being a local himself, Krish is rich with local knowledge, proving to be an excellent source of tourist information. Ask him (almost) anything about Cameron Highlands and he's bound to take you on a story-filled journey.

The bamboo huts are definitely a unique experience. Equipped with electricity and hot and cold water, it does not have fans or air-conditioning. In fact, almost none of the buildings we visited at Cameron's had any. It does get cold at night, so be sure to bring warm clothes. Clean, warm sheets were a comfort provided here at De Native.

Will definitely return to this awesome place!

I only stayed here one night but man did it leave an impression! It is ideally located next to the forest overlooking the hills. It is no problem getting here, Krish picks you up at the bus station or makes sure you arrive comfortably. Krish himself is a genuine and truly welcoming host. Every night he puts on the bonfire which unites all the guests and then tells Hindu tales and stories about growing up in the Cameron Highlands meeting tigers on the way back from school. The native guesthouse itself is worthy of it's name with it's bamboo sleeping huts and all the beautifull nature surrounding it. They're currently building a bamboo bar next to the campfire place which I can already tell is going to look wonderful. Even though this guesthouse is located next to the forest I didn't see any bugs or insects inside the rooms. I can not stretch enough how wonderfull my stay was, I wish I could have stayed longer and hope to one day return to this magical place with it's cheerful host. Lara Schreuer
