“Bad choice for steamboat dinner or fried meehoon!!”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

Came here again in Feb 2013 during CNY period after 8mths we stopped patroning this restaurant last June 2012. This time, we tried their steamboat dinner. Was not the actual restaurant in mind to dine at then (one prefered one was fullybooked), but due to Super Peak season especially during CNY period, we had no choice.
Was a BAD and WRONG choice, the steamboat was very cheap MYR14.00 per person but we would rather pay more to have fresher ingredients. The prawns, pork, chicken and fish meats served were unfresh and after few bites, none of us could distinguished what kind of meat we were actually eating. We ordered a 'Wat Tan Hor' and 'Fried Meehoon' too. The fried meehoon is full of meehoon only with countable vegetables 'cabbage'n unable to find any pork meat or prawn in it. Wat Tan Hor was very watery and lots of flat noodles in it but not much of other ingredients. This restaurant is mainly for 'tourist', may be cheap at certain dishes but don't seem to care about their 'quality' of food served. Sorry but we won't come back ever again!

“Excellent Steamboat”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

We went to Mayflower to try out the local Cameron Highlands Steamboat dish. We were definitely in the minority in terms of western customers, however the staff were very welcoming and explained to us how it worked. We thoroughly enjoyed our dish and the experience. Would definitely go again.

“Will never return. Food poisoning after dinner here.”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

My family with my in-laws and mom visited Cameron Highlands on 12 Jun 2013 and a must-have while you are at Cameron Highlands is steamboat, isn't it?

We did just that. The staff at Cameron Highlands Resort (where we stayed for the night) recommended the halal steamboat place a few doors away from Mayflower. For some strange reason, we decided on Mayflower instead. BIG mistake. I must say the lady boss there is a superb salesperson. We ordered the sets, which looked like big value for money. When the food arrived, we felt 'cheated' as the ingredients (i.e. meats, seafood) were resting on a full bed of green vegetables, just to make it look 'bountiful!' The meats served were not fresh, same goes for the prawns and fish. We finished what we could and left. Unsatisfied.

An hour and a half after dinner, I felt queasy. I attributed it to the altitude we were residing on. Then my mom started to feel nauseous and eventually threw up three times before she could rest for the night.

This place has literally left an extremely bad after taste and I would not encourage anyone to go there.

“Cheap and very filling! Perfect dinner in rainy evenings.”
Reviewed June 27, 2013

We've ordered the double soup, with tomyam and chicken. The tomyam was slightly spicy for my european friend so she had the chicken soup mostly. You can tell the owner to change the portion of ingredients in case there's any that you don't want to have. Staffs are very helpful and always around to refill the soup.

“This is the way to enjoy steamboat”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

Saw many review about this restaurant and decided to try it out. Ordered a set meal with the double soup option based on the recommendation by a friendly old lady from the restaurant. The Tom Yam base soup is delicious while the chicken base is suitable for the young kids. Great variety of ingredient, meat, seafood, tofu, egg, fish ball, crab stick and most important lot of vegetable. Somehow the vegetable at Cameron taste better than elsewhere maybe it is due to its freshness. The steamboat also taste differently at Cameron due to the cold weather and we are sitting outside the restaurant, I guess this is the way to enjoy the steamboat.
