My Girlfriend and I have visited this place during the beginning of August, but it will most probably stay forever in our minds.
The restaurant is located in a small mountain village which takes some time to reach and from the outside you would not believe what kind of magic happens on the inside. When entering the restaurant that looks relatively old and cheap from the outside, the inside is a cozy and warmly decorated living room setting, with old dusty wines on the wall and a table full of original liquors.
The restaurant is runned by a cute, hardworking couple that amazed me in every way. He (the host) is even though he does not speak english an excellent host, pays attention to details and is quick to understand what you like. For example, he recommed a Romanella 2015 red wine (montefalco) which was so nice, that i went to the winery itself the next day to pick up a few bottles for my and my family. She (the chef) is an true undiscovered artist. I do not remember the plates exactly, but i do remember finishing every drop of sauce/food from every course. The courses/meals where extraordinary, each of them having its own suprising innovative twist whilst maintaining the touch with the italian roots and the direct enviroment of the restaurant. The flavours are pure, balanced and in some ways suprising. You can see that she has experience, innovativeness but above all an exeptional talent for cooking.
The second time we visited this place, there seemed to be a village ceremony/party which led to the fact that the restaurant was completely empty, but still they opened especially for us (whilst also babysitting their grandkids)! This private restaurant was -again- one to never forget, with delicious food, very good complimental wines and a bottle of liquor that is left opened on the table after ordering one drink (which meant you can take as much as you like). Now that is what i call hospitality combined with culinary class. When i payed the bill (which is was unbelievably cheap for the quality we received) i saw them watching tripadvisor together and looking how proud they where receiving so many positive reviews i almost melted. The funny thing is when i told them that they should be in some kind of michelin guide or even receive a star, they did not understand or seem to know the 'michelin quality' which only adds to the magic this place has.
If you're still reading this I would most definitely recommend this if you are looking for a once in a life time 'hidden gem' feeling when it comes to restaurant.
