Sunday lunchtime we was expecting to have to wait for a table . We sat in the nice bar area having a coke which is free unlimited refill . The bar area has a lovely log fire . After 30 mins we was taken to our table .

All 3 of us had the gammon steak which was very nice. No complaints at all. ( although maybe the chips could have done with a extra minute in the fryer )

The unlimited salad as well was lovely and fresh and plenty to choose from.

For less than £10 we had 2 glasses of coke . Plenty of salad and a nice main meal .

Nice staff as well. We will be back

Thank Andy P

Arrived at 7:40, told a 20 min wait for table, no problem.

Sat in bar and had some drinks, girl behind bar was very robotic and did not smile!

8:05 we went through to the restaurant. Sat for a good 10-15 minutes before even being approached, again a common problem in Harvesters generally, is we always have tables that sit after us that order before us! The waitress in our area was Louise, both her and another girl working in the next area looked very very miserable.

Louise came to our table and did not even greet us, she stood with her phone to take the order and we had to converse to make the order. No "hello" or "can I take your order" just head down waiting!

She went off and we waited about 20 minutes for our starter, we did go to the salad cart in the meantime.

We had taken about three mouthfulls of our starter when another waitress came out with our mains, she said "oopps too quick" and took them back in the kitchen.

The food stayed on the hotplate for a while as we could see the plates form our table. Louise kept walking past to see as soon as we had finished our starters as the mains were ready. Sure enough starters finished, cleared and then mains straight out. It was clear the plates were just kept hot as the food was disgusting.

We paid the bill, food half eaten, we left....not impressed!

Oh Harvester why are you so "hit and miss"!!!???

I went here on a Sunday night, it was busy and we waited in the bar area for twenty minutes which was not a problem. The waiter was friendly and polite. I went with my partner and mother in law, I had a rump steak which was nicely cooked. My mother in law had a expensive sirloin steak, it was very over cooked (she asked for medium rare) the steak was a strange pale colour and very tough, she didn't want to bother sending it back, but it was bad. Apart from the steak no other problems.

For the last five years or so we would visit the Harvester Pub tree to four times a year
There used to be myself and my partner, my partner’s brother and wife, and their Aunty who lived in Kidlington just down the road
We were fairly pleased with it in general until 2012, when I believed it changed management.
The service had dropped, as did the quality of the food.
We went mid 2012, and the service was diabolical, the waiter showed us to a table with a take or leave it attitude, the food lacked lustre, and was not so appetising and there was more batter than fish.
We decided that was enough and found a smashing old world pub on the A44 near Blenheum Palace, and the service and food was far superior

Stuck in peak hour traffic leaving Oxford, we literally turned off into this Harvester pub car park, not expecting a great experience. Overall it was average-plus.

We like the help yourself salad bar but not the young kids handling the shared utensils so, well, casually, mixing ingredients. In these places, snobby though it sounds, cleanliness is only as good as the least careful diner with a cold. Delivering our mains was slow and other couples arriving after us got theirs first, always a bit annoying.
The less expensive of the two fish and chips choices was fine as was my partner's salad and cooked meat selection. The fruit salad and ice cream desserts arrived in soup plates not sundae glasses we had been expecting. In the loos I picked the cubicle with the broken lock and the plastic toilet seat also broken, propping up the floor. That's why the other cubicle was in use.
We would only come again if stuck in an equally slow-moving traffic jam. The overall experience seemed to be about 15 years behind the times. A leaflet about Christmas Day bookings was freely available but the last booking date appeared to have already gone by?
