We have not long returned from this wonderful Gite and we would love to return.
The location is beautiful, in the middle of everything so its only a short drive to visit some lovely places. The gite we stayed in was really lovely and perfect for our 11 month old. This combined with the pool and setting meant we actually got to have a relaxing holiday even though we had a young child.
Honor and Holly (and Bob) were lovely hosts and so helpful (we even got a babysitter one night). My husband said the cycling was amazing.
Everything you need for a family holiday!
We had a fabulous family holiday here, lots to do but also a great place to relax by the lovely pool (which I had to myself most of the time). Lots of activities in the local area and Honor has made sure that the welcome pack has load of info on places to go and restaurants to eat at. Could have easily stayed another week to fit more things in!
Accommodation was lovely and spacious with everything you needed, including a room full of toys for our little one. Honor is always happy to help with suggestions and any requests and the gift of wine, bread and cheese on arrival is a lovely touch and so welcoming.
Can't wait to return!
This was our second visit to Honor's lovely home. This time we arrived with a 6 month old in tow; two very tired and worn out parents in much need of a break! We decided to book the cottage this time and I'm so glad we did. For those visiting with little ones, it gives you the freedom to sit and bbq/enjoy the lovely wines of the region in your perfectly sized garden, whilst listening out for the inevitable whimper of your little ones. The cottage is beautiful and Honor helpfully provided all the essentials needed for baby.
We didn't do an awful lot this time, but spent time enjoying the pool and catching up on our sleep. Honor recommended a lovely restaurant to us, Bourdasso and I would highly recommend venturing there for an early dinner.
Thank you Honor, once again we were made to feel like old friends and I'm already planning our next visit!
Really nicely fitted out gite - clean, cool, uncluttered with good kitchen and bathroom. Pool was warm and secluded and we nearly always had it to ourselves. Communal toy store was an added bonus for our children - the whole site was pretty child friendly. The owner / manager lives on site and was really friendly and helpful.
Not a huge amount going on in the village itself (Ferrals) although there is a good bakery within walking distance. It's a great base though for exploring the area.
My wife and I stayed in this beautiful Maison with our one year old son. Anyone travelling with a child knows it can make for weary work, but Honor's warm welcome to a wonderful part of France made the journey well worth while.
Honor was always on hand to help with anything and everything we could have wanted. The location of the gite was ideal to walk into the friendly local village, or drive to the nearby beautiful villages. There was more to do then we could fit into a week (even more reason to return!)
Everything you could want was nearby and this made for one of the most relaxing holidays we've had (and with a one year old. . . that's a great achievement!).
THINGS I LOVED ABOUT OUR STAY HERE
Communication ahead of our trip was superb. From booking our stay to all our questions before we arrived, Honor always replied almost immediately.
Easy to find and only half an hour from Carcasonne airport (and also easily accessible from Perpignan, Beziers or Toulouse
Warm welcome from Honor, Holly and Bob the gorgeous dog.
Honor was always on hand to offer advice, book a restaurant, or just check we'd had a good day, but equally didn't make us feel we were clocking in or out
Gite was spotlessly clean and decorated with lots of French finds
All the amenities in the gite you need including ice cube trays, washing machine, barbecue, TV, stacks of board games, piles of books etc.
Pool with sun loungers
THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE ABOUT OUR STAY HERE
It couldn't be forever
We had the most amazing week. Honor couldn't have been a more perfect host. There is a boulangerie within walking distance and a large supermarket a ten minute drive away (which is open until 8pm and is en route from the airport so you can stop on your way to get essentials). There are restaurants within walking distance, in the village, or just a five minute drive away. If you mention you are thinking of going to any of them, Honor is happy to book on your behalf (which was great as we then discovered one we were planning visiting was actually closed for a private party but Honor had a list of alternatives for us).
The gite is in the perfect location for exploring Carcasonne, Narbonne, the coast, you can even nip over to Spain in under two hours or for a day trip to any one of the local vineyards or medieval villages like Lagrasse.
This was our first trip here, but already we are talking about our next and whether we can come out again this summer.
We visited Manson De La Roche in early September and although unlucky with the weather, we had a great time. The Gite was as good as it looks in the photo and has everything you would need. We travelled with a baby and 2 year old and Honor couldn't have done more for us. Our eldest loved the well stocked playroom and Honor had everything else you'd need for travelling with a baby.
