My wife and me just came back from Botswana, spending last 2 nights in this camp, after being in Chobe and in Moremi. Machaba was the best by far, from the facilities ( with big tent well equipped), to the staff, really friendly people who enjoy their job, with special mention to our guide, Shaun, incredibly skilled and always willing to please you stopping for photos as many times as you ask for.
We got lucky to see, after a rain, how millions of flying termites covered the sky, a bit annoying feeling but for sure hardly repeatable.
Therefore, we highly recommend this Machaba Camp.

We, 2 adults from Denmark, spend 3 nights in this exclusive camp (14.11-17.11, 2015), coming from Chobe Elephant Camp (3 nights) and from Vic. Falls in Zimbabwe (4 nights).
This was our 8th trip into an African safaris destination, so we have lots of experiences to compare with, however our conclusion is that Machaba Camp is among the best we have ever experienced.
Having been part of the global Travel Industry for more than 45 years, we should know what we are talking about.
We stayed in a big exclusive Tent located very few meters from the edge of the River, Elephants few meters from the Tent, very high standard. From early morning until late evening - from management level to every single staff member - we were met by smiling and service minded people only interested to do everything to get you feel happy and comfortable.
The food was very well prepared, served properly at the table or by the buffet, very good tasting.
Our best recommendation to this Machaba Camp.

The staff at Machaba Camp is outstanding. Richard, Carl and Elke were always present to oversee the management of the camp. Fernando, the intern, was friendly, helpful and also very visible engaging everyone in conversation. Morermi(spelling?) our game guide was beyond belief. He tracked down the "Big Five " and also tracked 2 cheetahs and the wild dogs.,we saw more than we dared hope to see at this camp. He was truly amazing and made our trip. The tents themselves could use alittle maintenance but any complaints we had ( broken water faucet) were taken care of immediately. Dinners are served with one big warm, friendly table.the atmosphere in this camp is very upbeat and pleasant.

We spent 2 nights at this lodge, coming in from Sanctuary Stanley's (which was very nice).
Although the setting here is somewhat different, being "closer to the ground", this camp is everything you could ask for and more.
All of the staff were extremely welcoming and it felt truly heartfelt, which was a welcome change after the sometimes rather submissive behavior in other lodges.
The game drives were absolutely terrific, with a lion, leopard and even cheetah sighting on our first afternoon drive.
There is a wide range of excursions offered, morning/ afternoon and night game drives, mokoro, walking safari, etc.
The food was wonderful and the drinks selection was everything you could ever want.
I have read in some reviews that the WiFi can be somewhat of an issue. Let me be clear on this (in the same way the staff was): the WiFi can be used by guests in the morning and evening, during the day as well but then the capacity is far less, as they are using it to do their work, be aware of this. BUT to add to this, why the h*ll would you want WiFi when on safari?! Are you not there to enjoy nature and look at/ spot animals?!
Anyway, it was an amazing experience for us and we would return in a heartbeat, and will for sure do so sometime in the (near) future.

Machaba camp was such a pleasant surprise after a disappointing stay at Lebala Camp.

Machaba is very welcoming and friendly, with helpful staff, luxurious tents and an absolutely amazing riverside setting. Seeing Hippos and Elephants from your tent/room in the nearby river was a definite highlight of our trip.

The main lounge/restaurant area is a real place you want to spend time, with luxurious chesterfields, books and a commanding position over the river. Food is traditional European and to a high standard. This camp is a sociable camp with mixed ages and nationalities and the dining arrangements work well.

There is a Wi-Fi corner for those who need to check emails etc.

The tents were excellent, the best we had on our trip and all seem to have a good position.

The concession for Machaba is smaller than most, but the game is incredibly dense. Immediately into the drives you can see an abundance of wildlife and varied terrain, without some of the “commuting” that happens in other camps. Due to the density sometimes there can be several vehicles in the prime locations, but this is made up for by the density of the wildlife, including predators, found here. The landscape is also beautiful here, with many rivers but also some spectacular drier parts; such as a “dead forest” area, from a previous flood.

Machaba staff pull out all the stops to make you feel welcome, including some nice surprises that we didn’t get at other camps. The Moroko canoe tour is another optional highlight we enjoyed.

I thoroughly recommend Machaba, it’s a beautiful and extremely well run camp, with great wildlife and friendly guides.

Room tip: All rooms seem to have great river views, don't worry about room selection.
