My husband and I flew into the Delta and spent three nights at the Jackal and Hide in October. Expecting something quite basic, we were pleasantly surprised by the comfort of the tents and the camp in general. Our hosts, Barbara and Thomas, were quite gracious and would also meet us on the return from our game drives with cold towels. The food was very good and was accompanied each evening by a wine selection. Our visit was part of a Pangolin photo safari and we were accompanied on our game drives by Sabine Stols, our photo host, who provided us with tips and info on how to get great shots. Wax was our spotter/driver and did everything he could to ensure we saw as many animals as possible (including that elusive leopard). We also did twice see a pack of wild dogs with a kill. They had a den near the camp. It was very warm but dry heat when we were there and got up to 109 F in the tent one afternoon. But the ceiling fan did help and we had brought cooling towels with us as well. On two of the nights were were there we were visited by an elephant right outside our tent so that provided some excitement as well! We were very pleased with our visit!More
