Restaurant details
Good for: Families with children
Dining options: Breakfast, Reservations
Description: We are a busy roadside cafe on the A29 just north of Billingshurst. All day breakfast and brunches a speciality, but lots of favourites too - home made burgers, spaghetti with Polpetti, our very own Welsh rarebit recipe, toasties, delicious cakes to go with afternoon teas. We have an ever changing specials board offering a selection of dishes from around the world all prepared on site by Billy, perfect for lunch and supper. Fast fresh and fun, and as one customer said - not what you would expect from an ex Little Chef restaurant. We now have opened our sister restaurant, Billys on the Beach in Bracklesham Bay just south of Chichester.

“Not too bad”
Reviewed July 7, 2013 via mobile

Well I am a regular customer.. Most (one is incredibly scatty and regularly gets orders wrong) of the people who work there are lovely.
The food when I first went there was great... But now it's just getting over cooked. Or not quite cooked eggs and incredibly tough pancakes.
Other than that, the service is great!! So are the prices.

“Pleasurable , welcome surprise.”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

We really enjoyed our visit to this hidden gem, having to find somewhere for an evening meal and a breakfast . Both were lovely.
It had a really nice feel with interesting art work, a large model railway layout , dolls house, library & lounge area and lovely staff. Our group of four adults and two young children were all catered for admirably. Our time there was the highlight of my little boys trip!
We thoroughly recommend Billy's and will be looking forward to visiting again.
Thanks again Billy : )

Clean, fresh, American-style diner offering great choice of all-day breakfasts and lunches.
Service with a smile & reasonably priced. Amazing train-track table is a great feature.

“really exceeds expectations for this type of restaurant”
Reviewed June 30, 2013

First rate fresh ingredients, Interesting and varied menu, cheerfull friendly service, pleasant environment. This is a replacement for a little Chef, but is in a completely different league, I wish all roadside cafe's were as good. I had a simple dish that was superbly excecuted, Tomato, mozarella, avocado salad.(I am a Leiths trained chef, so I really know what I'm talking about) The tomatoes were locally grown, full of flavour, and a mixture of colours, Avocado perfectly ripe, good quality buffalo mozarella, and a delicious basil dressing,
good quality hot wholegrain baguette to mop up the juices.
My son's Halloumi burger was equally good, with big fat crispy chips and a fresh mango salsa
There is meat and fish on the menu too, but plenty of veggie options, Home made cakes, desserts, and a relaxed atmosphere, don't pass this place by, will definitely be going there regularly

“A good pull-in for drivers”
Reviewed June 26, 2013

This is a very pleasant, newly-refurbished, 'diner'-type pull-in for vehicle-based travelling folk passing by and is situated conveniently and strategically about halfway between the coast and the M25. The cafe is bright, airy, clean and the staff welcoming. The loos are clean and wholesome. Parking is convenient, adequate and simple.

The food is very enjoyable, though the listed menu is, as one would expect of a roadside cafe, largely variations on the theme of the all-day breakfast and related snacks; prices are arguably a little on the high side for what is certainly good but fairly standard such fare. Being a pull-in cafe in the countryside some way from the nearest sizable settlement and having 'early' hours, it is perhaps, though, not a venue for locals walking or those from further afield wanting an evening meal.

The ambience is very pleasant and there is the added and unusual attraction of a model railway layout (reputedly designed and serviced by a local enthusiasts club) to amuse the patrons whilst awaiting the serving of their food.

Despite the recent refurb, the external appearance remains that of the late 1960s/ early 1970s Little Chef that the place started as; perhaps a clay-tiled pitched roof might one day help to make it look more comfortable in its rural setting? We'd also suggest losing those hideous old wonky white fluorescent post lamps, which are reminiscent of a fuel filing station or factory unit and are just a blot on the landscape; discreet low-level louvred bollard lights would be far less glaring.

We can recommend this characterful cafe, which is run with enthusiasm and care. Would that more eating establishments took such a pride in their offerings. At least give it a try.
