As a couple other people have said, meeting israel and Sandra was like visiting family. We were expecting a formal tour, then coffee tasting, but instead we heard their wonderful stories and got a very informative, informal tour of the garden (I told Sandra I really loved gardening) and the farm. We also enjoyed being able to see all the different fruit and nut trees they grow. They are in the process of building an eco-lodge which we were able to see. The coffee is delicious, much more delicate than what we typically drink (which is all fair-trade, shade-grown, etc, etc.)
The scenery is stunning, too and the drive is gorgeous. Just be sure to take the right roads back down the mountain....we had a difficult time, driving down some very bad roads because we took a wrong turn. We ended up driving back to the farm, and Israel set us straight. It's now a very funny story! We did this trip in one day from San Juan; it's 21/2 hours each way. This day was one of the best ever in the four times we've been to Puerto Rico.
