We chose a private dining room at the Grovefield Hotel to celebrate my Grandfathers 90th Birthday.
We were a party of 10 adults and 5 children and all thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday Lunch.
The staff are all very welcoming and go out of their way to help.
My grandparents who are both fairly fussy with dining out did not have a bad word to say about the food.
I would highly recommend the Sunday lunch to everyone. Will definitely be finding an excuse to go again soon. :)

Took friends for tea at the Grovefield. It was a red letter day gift I had received and therefore this was from my limited choice
The staff were courteous and the young man who served us was a delight, very attentive and caring.
The tea itself was not of a good standard.Sandwiches fresh, but the veggie option was dire.Who put coleslaw sandwhiches on a high tea?Or cheese and chutney?.The egg ones and the cucumber were good though.
The cakes were in abundance, but would have preferred less and better quality. The scones were dainty, but rock hard...and jams[only one raspberry..]..well,they were in little pots...not home made as would have been expected.
The teas were weak and cold.A glass os sparkling wine was very well appreciated......

Room Tip: ask for a window table...insist and you will get one

AFTERNOON TEA - All the staff said what a wonderful evening they had. It couldn’t have been better. The food and constant supply of tea and coffee was fantastic, Headteacher said she certainly will be recommending the Grovefield.

We would like to thank all the staff on duty, they were wonderful, so friendly, always smiling, nothing too much trouble and they made sure everyone had enough to eat and drink.

Please pass our thanks to those on duty that evening and a big thanks Rosa, to you, for all your help in organizing this event, we certainly will be in touch for our Christmas party and any future events.

Reading the reviews, we probably got the short end of the stick. The rooms we got, after complaining, were very small en hot although the outside temperatures were very moderate. With the staff had different experiences, from being uninterested to very helpful. Not a place we will likely return to.

Stayed at this hotel with my Down's Syndrome son......we were met by friendly understanding staff who greeted Richard as a "regular guy". Nothing was too much trouble, his highlight was breakfast when he could choose. Again all the staff were lovely with him and I really appreciated their attitude.
This might have only been an overnight stay but for me it was like having several days respite care !! my thanks to you all.

Room Tip: We asked for a twin-bedded room, it was light airy.....and Richard enjoyed laying in bed and watchin...

We Stayed at this hotel for 1 night on the romantic package which included Dinner Bed and breakfast and a bottle of Champagne impressively delivered to our room within 5 minutes of our arrival. We were upgraded to a suite which overlooked the gardens and was extremely clean and spacious. The staff were young and attentive in every way and keen to help us enjoy our stay, after reading reviews of other guests we agree that a slight degree of uncertainty surrounded the staff in their manner but we put this down to inexperience. The food in the restaurant was exceptional.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay and considered it to be excellent value for money and would definitely return.

Room Tip: Check if there is a function on during your stay and if so insist on a quiet room.

This is lovely looking place set in beautiful grounds although we felt the formal gardens could have been a little more extensive and better maintained. We liked the informal wildflower meadows surrounding the hotel, though. The room was very good - very clean and well-maintained. We had an afternoon tea included in our booking, but I got the impression that they had not got a record of that, as they seemed surprised when we turned up in the restaurant for it and had to go off and check. After waiting a while, we were given a seat and a tea, but we noticed that it didn't look a patch on the tea of the other party who were just finishing theirs. I got the distinct impression that we got the leftovers quickly thrown together and it was disappointing.
However, the evening meal was excellent although the place was very quiet and lacked atmosphere. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Overall, pleasant but not outstanding.
